Interesting thread, hope it's true.

Timing doesn't seem right though, would have thought it they were going to sack him they would have done it about a second after the Forest match.

So do I however it makes sense to have a replacement on deck in our situation.

I suspect they have given Hughes the rest of the window to see what he can do on matchdays and if things do not pick up he will be given the flick before things get out of hand completely.

maybe the Sheikh, Kaldoon and associates did not get chance to sit down and discuss this between themselves until Monday or Tuesday with all that was going on in the UAE - Cook wouldn't sack Hughes unless he got a call from above and maybe it has taken a couple of days for the fallout from the result on Saturday to feed through to them?

Because they believed results would improve.
The timing is all wrong though, I just can’t believe they would consider replacing him during this window after giving there unequivocal support.

And results have been shit for a few months

I don’t care if supporters are for or against MH, sacking now would be disaster

I disagree mate.

If we brought a new manager in tomorrow, he would have time to make a few select signings before the window shut and hopefully, the manager would be a 'BIG manager' and the select signings would be great players (i.e not Bellamy).

Probably aload of bollocks though.....

Re: HUGHES TO BE SACKED

If you want a replacement with a fantastic club record, look no further than FC...
Fabio Capello, who is already bored with the England job. Watch this space.

No fucking way! Not Postman Pat FFS.

Iv'e got a feeling it'll be an Italian if the rumours of Hughes' departure are true.

Yes, but who is banging the transfer drum? Prospective signings have agents, they must be telling their clients that regardless of the official line there's a chance he'll be gone sooner or later. It may be that transfers have been put on hold by us, it may also be that folks we are trying to sign have backed right off and told ADUG to come back once they've got a manager in who is not going to be subject to the hook on a week-by-week basis, and even if he does last until summer, they might find themselves surplus to requirements come summer. Can you blame Parker or anyone who is being bandied about as a stop-gap (until we get what we really want) baulking at moving to city?

Is there anyone at City really in control of transfer policy? It's all very well for the Arabs, Cook, Aldridge, fans to say they believe in Hughes blah blah blah, but you cannot force players at other clubs to. All I know is this would be a non issue if Jose or Mancini or Hiddink were in charge. It's hard enough trying to turn things around at City without having to compensate for a manager who has no record. The whole situation is fecking surreal.

It's his second job in club management, he's only ever managed a small club before, for 3 1/2 years, and he gets to handle building the foundations of the richest sporting organization in the world with ambitions to conquer the known universe?

We want to get the best players the world has ever seen, but mess around with someone who is learning the trade? This is not the time, and City is not the place, for Mark Hughes to continue his apprenticeship.

We'd better offer them the biggest wages ever then, we have nothing else to offer them.

Bollocks- we want to get the best team the world has ever seen- there is a world of difference

Sorry, by "we" I meant the owners. I don't think though that the best team would include anyone of average ability though, do you?

Although I am in the Keep Hughes camp. If Fabio Cappelo said today that he wants the City job, I would take him straight away. He is one manager who will command respect and also sort out all the Knobs in the dressing room (Elano, TBH, Jo etc)

You don't fuck with this guy!!
