On reflection he should have been given no time and never employed by City.

Whilst I agree that Hughes would have needed 20 years to get us anywhere near winning the Premiership to associate him with A Ball is too much, shame on you.

I actually think the rag thing kept him in a job, it clouded the piss poor job he was doing.

What makes you say this? There was very little evidence for it. Victory over Arsenal's reserves and a faltering Chelski did not really constitute improvement, and certainly not when you consider it was immediately followed by three goals conceded at Bolton; a hammering by Spuds and shipping another three home goals against Sunderland, whose recent form had been toilet anyway.
