Why would say Rijkaard be unrealistic? He's availible and it's hard to imagine a job offer coming along any time soon that's better than ours, if it becomes a job offer that is. :)

Fucking hell, even Woy Hodgson looking at the way he totally out-managed Hughes today!
I think if we want someone new to take over it's gotta be as soon a possible, if we wait until the end of the season then we are back in the process of a manager starting all over again. We get a manager in say next monday, for example, he has then got until the end of the season to see our lads play, train and interact with each other. He can also judge who he would like in next years squad and who is capable to get us where we want. Otherwise what does the new manager get to see, a bunch of players on their summer holidays and a pre season warm up.hgblue said:I think this thread was intended to be a trap set for Hughes Outers to fall into. Basically, any top managers suggested (Mourinho, Rikaard, Van Gaal etc) would be ridiculed as being unrealistic. Who actually knows how unrealistic any of these managers are? I lost faith in Hughes a long time ago, but i've always felt that he should be given until the end of the season to prove his worth. However, if we lose on Thursday night, I no longer see the point in prolonging his agony, as we would have nothing to play for in the remaining games. He should be sacked and replaced by a caretaker manager until the end of the season. This would allow our owners to 'go public' in their search for a replacement, and then we would see who is available and who isn't available. The appointment could then be made at the end of the season, and the new man could hit the ground running. These extra few weeks gained could make all the difference in planning for the transfer window and selecting/approaching the new mans chosen targets.
