Hughes Outers- Name names

I think this thread was intended to be a trap set for Hughes Outers to fall into. Basically, any top managers suggested (Mourinho, Rikaard, Van Gaal etc) would be ridiculed as being unrealistic. Who actually knows how unrealistic any of these managers are? I lost faith in Hughes a long time ago, but i've always felt that he should be given until the end of the season to prove his worth. However, if we lose on Thursday night, I no longer see the point in prolonging his agony, as we would have nothing to play for in the remaining games. He should be sacked and replaced by a caretaker manager until the end of the season. This would allow our owners to 'go public' in their search for a replacement, and then we would see who is available and who isn't available. The appointment could then be made at the end of the season, and the new man could hit the ground running. These extra few weeks gained could make all the difference in planning for the transfer window and selecting/approaching the new mans chosen targets.
I think if we want someone new to take over it's gotta be as soon a possible, if we wait until the end of the season then we are back in the process of a manager starting all over again. We get a manager in say next monday, for example, he has then got until the end of the season to see our lads play, train and interact with each other. He can also judge who he would like in next years squad and who is capable to get us where we want. Otherwise what does the new manager get to see, a bunch of players on their summer holidays and a pre season warm up.
Only problem with this is if the man you really want (eg. Mourinho) is unwilling to leave his current job until the end of the season.

Is Scolari available until the Summer ?
So u would ignore the reason why he was sacked by Chelsea? He lost the dressing room cos he couldn't get his ideas across his English wasn't up to standard only Robinho and Elano would benefit from him

Fucking hell, even Woy Hodgson looking at the way he totally out-managed Hughes today!

Good call

lets be like geordies and have an old striker with no managerial exp THE GOAT

personly, ide have sven back atleast he new how to beat them red twats....

AND i may be a bit paranoid but i am 100% sure hughes let utd beat us....

Hughes out for me, has to be the end of the season of course.
We can blame members of the team for some things but Hughes has made some shocking tactical decisions this season.
The Club is really a laughing stock at the minute.
Sven did better for me and he got the bullet.

Hughes out for sure.

Alright, well I don't think all of the names being thrown out there are good choices.

Sven - No, no, no, a million times no, he's lost his touch, been there done that.
Klinnsman - I love the guy but no, he's not doing very well at Bayern.
Scolari - People on here a bitching about the Brazilians now, if you bring in Scolari we'd have a full team of them. Didn't even last a season at Chelsea anyway, I like him but he's overrated in my opinion.
Mancini - Sven clone.
Ancelotti - Wouldn't come.
Moyes - Has been given years to build a squad, which none of you are willing to do.
O'Neill - See above.

So that leaves us with Mourinho, Riijkaard, Hiddink, Jol, and Capello. I think. Unless I'm missing some. I'm just doing this of off memory.

Capello isn't going to leave the England job. Mourinho said he won't coach for us. Hiddink is going back to Russia, and if by chance he decides he wants to manage at club level, it's going to be with Chelsea.

So I guess that leaves Riijkaard and Jol.

absolutely spot on. And for me that would leave Jol as my choice. Done a great job with Spurs; knows the Premier league..and he didnt ask for ages when he went to Hamburg :) Really think this could be good for all parties...

Do you happen to have any quotes from the horses mouth where Mourinho has said he won't coach for us?

Capello - Double your money offer.

Impossible, but he is just what we need. He doesn't take any shit, ie Jo on the lash and Robi disappearing, and he is tactically sound. We'd be boring but very successful.

Impossible? Would you have said that about Keegan, or Sven? It might happen, though I doubt it would until after the World Cup is finished next summer.

Now. if we're binning Hughes, I have a vote for his replacement...

Me.

Yeah, well why not?

I know a thing or two about football. I know exactly where I'd look to correct the issuses with the squad (see my post in the T/F on Friday). I'm City til I die. It might only be on FM2009, but my management credentials are exemplary....

Starting with the September 2008 City squad, after 6 seasons in charge at the virtual COMS my honours list reads thus:
Uefa cup finalists, 2009 (Valencia are bastards)
2 FA Cups
3 League cups
5 consecutive PL titles.
2 CL wins

I have signed David Villa, Messi, Ribery, Hamsik, Fabregas, Aguero and Srna. Robinho loves me. So I'm used to dealing with superstar footballer sized egos.

Edit, I'm only actually halfway through my 6th season, but seen as I'm 13 points clear of Arsenal in 2nd place, and yet to lose a game, I think we can make that 6 soon enough.

And for all that, I come cheap. I'll work every hour that god sends, for a measly £2m a year.

;)
