Hughes sacked

Hiddink announced he'd been approached, Hughes went to Cook and said back me or sack me and the rest is history. To be honest, I always felt Cook was trying to curry favour with the fans he upset after he welcomed Uwe Rosler to the Manchester United Hall of Fame at a Supporters Do. So glad that odious swine left afterwards and was so well replaced by Ferran Soriano.

A thread about the imminent sacking of Mark Hughes and you somehow manage to crowbar a swipe at Garry Cook into it.

Do you have opinions on any other subjects?

He buys the city calendar for his bedroom in January to save money.

I just strongly feel it was a PR disaster that could've been avoided had we done things correctly and dismissed Hughes once the decision to replace him was made. People insisted it was because City had money or just the press siding with a British Manager - but there's a way to do it. Forcing him to take charge of the team against Sunderland was wrong.

Like Mancini, Soriano has a good track record in football developed at one of the very, very best Clubs. This is surely a better option to lead City than a gaffe prone man who wanted to be everyone's Mate?

Who cares what other thought? they just waited for city to do the smallest of side steps.

Look whos talking last, us! Mancini proved to be a success, Hughes proved to be worthless

Pretty sure there was a reason behind Winter being so bitter, hadn't we told him the week before that Hughes was 100% staying, so he didn't run the the Hughes getting sacked story when everyone else was or something?

Anyway, Winter seems to be one of the few reasonable voices around now (and has been for a while), so there must be some reason for his change of heart.

I've heard this before, and if true it's fairly ridiculous. Did Winter genuinely believe that he was entitled to know what the board planned before anyone else? His behaviour at Mancini's first press conference was childish and petty, and I hope he's suitably embarrassed about it now.

Hughes' teams are always better in the second half of the season

I don't have the stats to hand, but I'm fairly sure that's just bullshit peddled by Hughes himself. Even if there is any truth to it, it's presumably because his sides start so monumentally badly that improvement in the second half of the season is pretty much inevitable.

Re: not long left for hughes

He will be sacked after bending over for his old boss with at least 7-0 spanking at the stadium of shite.

Re: not long left for hughes

It would be interesting to find out just how many of the 14 "expensive" flops reportedly signed by Hughes, since he rocked up at QPR last January, are represented by Kia Joorabchian.... or am I just becoming more cynical as I get older.

It's not. It's true. I can think of his spell at Fulham where they were in the relegation spots at Christmas yet vastly improved in the second half of the season and also his first season at City where you can say the same.

Improvement is inevitable? A good start is important to ensure you're not playing catch up for the rest of the season. Morale drops when this isn't the case and it's not always the same Manager who can get things going again.

-- Tue Nov 20, 2012 8:49 am --

United will win comfortably on saturday and then he'll be sacked, way it works.

QPR have got interest in Malaysia and India due to their financial backers so I can picture a scene where Corporate areas at The Swamp are full of guests there to see QPR get well and truly beaten. This might be the straw that broke the camel's back as it humiliates the Owners. I understand the same thing happened with Allardyce's Blackburn when they got well beaten by U****d. The Venkys had made this huge thing of the occasion and suddenly Big Sam was gone.

Re: not long left for hughes

Les has had 5 full seasons in management.

First 19 games of those 5 seasons his teams have averaged 23.2 points.
Second 19 games of those 5 seasons his teams have averaged 31.2 points

So it is true, his teams do improve in the second half of the season. Given that, if he isn't sacked I can see QPR coming out after Christmas flying and picking up 6 points minimum in the second half of this season.

I think moomba did the stats ages ago on this and found out that hughes' teams were 0.2 points better off per game in the second half of the season.

I did, but that has improved with us (naturally as he had a very good side 1 point off a relegation spot at the half way mark of his one full seasons here) and Fulham. It's now about .4 per game.

Impressive. QPR might hit the 15 point mark by the end of the season if they kick on in the second half

They might ruin it all by sacking him and bringing in someone that will win a game in the first half of the season. Actually getting points before Christmas will make it so much harder to improve in the second half of the season so that would be madness as far as I'm concerned.
