Star rating 8 out of 10 will do better

Someone said Hughes isn't up to the job.

A few agreed.

A few disagreed.

Then a 'court room' style argument ensued where posters fancied themselves as lawyer, picking over the minutae of opinions.

Then when that failed, they resorted to name calling.

Just a normal thread on here it would seem.

Sorry chaps, but he (Hughes) is not up to the job. The backroom have little confidence in him, he does not communicate at all well, is aloof and unproachable, does not treat his players as adults. It is hard being objective about any Manager's tactical cleverness, but the consensus is that he is not strong in this area too either with the unfortunate characteristic of seeing problems but not acting on them fast enough, great case being his Derby grumble of "not enough pace and power to get round the back of United" then putting Petrov on after 80 mins.

Hughes will not "get it right" at City. Despite claims that he has an eye for detail and is involved in all aspects of the club, Eddie Niedzwiecki takes all the training and the majority of the technical work. The final straw for many was the absolute "flat spin panic" panic that MH and MB went into when they found out that Kompany and was unfit SWP was doubtful for HAMBURG game.

As much as I admire some of his qualities such as the ability (through a good scouting network) to unearth bargains such as Samba and RSQ for clubs with a limited budget I believe he is not capable of handling big names. I know as fact that City were offered a very big name striker in January but Hughes observation was that whilst, if he asked Bellamy to jump he'd ask "how high", he would not get the same response from the "big name" so we settled for (very much) second best

Sorry to be negative, but we must look at other options....special options maybe

What you say is spot on, don't listen to these stabilty with the wrong man lovers who have no contacts with the club so pass it off as bullshit when it is not.

8 out of 10?

So losing to Brighton, Forest and Midgetland in three cups, scraping past Aalborg and Midgetland on pens in the Uefa Cup after failing to beat them over two legs, playing Richards at left back, Vassell over Elano and many more warrants an 8 out of 10? Wow, you are really generous.

Rammy Blue - agree with you about Sven (although I'd have given him another season as you simply can't judge on one season) but the point is that at the end of this season, Hughes will at least catch him in win % and may overtake him and early next season (if he's still here) will overtake him in points per game. So by 10 games in next season, Hughes could actually be our most successful Premiership manager.
You have to consider the circumstances.

SGE took over a squad that had finished 14th on 42 points, had practically no pre season and much less money to spend than MH has had. Still we were 4th by christmas, which shows what difference a quality manager can make. Then he had very little money to spend in the january transfer window. The squad was paper thin, so we faded but still finished 9th on 55 points, 13 points better than the previous season.

MH has spent £110 million to improve on that, but will most likely (?) finish 9th-10th on 50 points. Simply not good enough.

Barney, you're wasting you're typing strength. Hughes is the champion of the fake City fan, thick as pig shit and cowardly with it.
Is that the extent of your intellectual argument? If you can't argue without resorting to vile insults like this then you've lost the argument. You've also lost the plot. I'd like an apology.

Who started the insults, instead of even attempting to explain how Hughes is better than, Jose, Mancinni, or Rijkaard, so I responded in a way you might understand, go and cry you girl.

As per usual the Hughes huggers have no real point and can't answer a direct question with anything approaching reason. So after the usual insults questioning peoples sanity and intelligence against there's, we respond, Then they go bleating to the moderators, seriously, its a trait on this forum and a *ucking joke.

They have nothing. They merely parrot one another. It doesn't matter if the issue of stability has been shown to be a logical fallacy, they still repeat it Little Red Book style. The entire matter can be summed up:

They believe Hughes is the man because they believe Hughes is the man because they believe Hughes is the man after four years of club managment and the March 2007 Barclaycard manager of the month award. Trust their judgment.

Mourinho is the man because he has 18 years in club management and a trophy cabinet full of good things, having worked with some of the best players and managers (e.g. Van Gaal) in the game. Trust objective evidence.

As OB1 said: "Jose Mourinho is arguably one of the top five managers in the world: Mark Hughes is inarguably not even in top twenty" (I'd make it top fifty).
