Bit bemused by the sudden loss of faith in Dzeko. Really bemused actually.

He wasn't the problem today. At all. I actually think he played ok.

Our midfield was a mess. Yaya sat too deep for too long and Fernandinho was man-marked all game and did nothing about it. Not disputing his ability but the lad's been in the league for 3 weeks and played against two promoted teams, desperately chasing the ball and in the mood to prove that they're better than our 'overpaid, overrated mercenaries'. We missed Barry's influence on the game today.

I understand why Barry will go. He was brought in in the summer of 2009 along with the other 'daft wage crew'. Note: they've all gone now., except Gaz Baz. So he'll go and his influence on the game will be missed. A lot. Now what's concerning is that our manager seems to rate Javi Garcia above Jack Rodwell in the pecking order. A lot of the game passed Fernandinho today and that's why we didn't create many chances. Not Dzeko.

Negredo played well when he came on and scored a good goal. Didn't make much of a difference in our play though? We were shit today. Also worth noting that we only had 1 English outfield player as well. Just hope Manuel doesn't undervalue the importance of some of our English lads. Especially Rodwell and Milner.

Played shite but won.

And for the umpteenth time....

GIVE ZABBA THE CAPTAINS BAND!!!!!!

I want a leader not a poser.

navas is good but is he as good as silva as right winger ?
aguero was the only man trying to do something in the first half, took part in goal-scoring combination, this guy knows what to do and we need him as starting line-up.
we need centre-back who plays with right foot, lescott and nastasic both play with left foot and it made things even more difficult.
clichy is 10 times better than kolarov. kolarov and silva hard to imagine :/
negredo is a goal-scorer, player that we needed and he must replace dzeko..
zaba plays well but mika is more aggresive, can lead team better than him or yaya ;)
i want us playing against stoke like this

wum or lunatic?

I like how he's planned out the substitutions before a ball has been kicked.

Very poor today by the standard we should be setting, central midfield is boring and unadventurous. We haven't replaced Adam Johnson in nearly £160m worth of spending, we don't have a player that can beat a man with a trick. Team shape and a good passing game with movement is way to go but a player like Johnson can make the difference. We have nobody in that mould, central midfield is dull.
Well done Kolarov, you weren't shit today,.

The build up, just like the Cardiff game, was so pedestrian and predictable.
Not convinced about Fernandinho and agree that the partnership with YaYa is the main hub of the problem. Clichy was poor last week and Kolatrov came in and made some mistakes but he also saved us in the second half when Hull looked certain to score.- mistimed and it could have been a pen. to them. Poor old Lescott he proved today he hasn't got a right foot. The CH's were all at sea. Please Vinney get well soon. Silva is far from at his best at the moment with far too many misplaced passes and I am unsure how Kun is justifying his place at the moment. He was poor against Cardiff and no better today. Negredo looks good and if we can get the ball quicker to Navas, he will turn defences inside out but it is all about service from the pedestrian midfield. Why bring Milner on and play him on the left - no sense in that. He is better driving from midfield on the right. At the end of the day, another three points but still looking for Pellegrini to fulfil his promises of attacking football.

I'm interested in this idea we were better after the break. I accept we offered Hull fewer chances but many of the comments relate to us going forward and I think we had three attempts on target in each half.
Having said that I'm not sure if any of the stats are correct as one stat shown on the scoreboard late in the first half gave us two shots on target but three saves by the Hull keeper; unless one would have been an own goal.
As for the game, I know it's early days and I know Pelle and a couple of players are settling in but I still find it disconcerting that we struggled to overcome a team comprising eleven players none of whom we would want in our squad.
They may have a winning mentality from gaining promotion but shouldn't we have sufficient professional pride to overcome that? And shouldn't we also be used to winning having won so many games over the past few seasons?
The result was a positive; the clean sheet was another positive, but there seemed to be something seriously wrong with the performance as a whole.
Fortunately Pelle has two weeks to decide how to tackle Hughes and the Neanderthals in our next game.
