If we don't sign anyone, we won't finish top 4

What is the over reaction bollocks. The clubs around us are getting stronger, and due to injuries and players we have loaned out we are now weaker, that is a fact! it isnt an over reaction, just my take on the things, let look at the in's and outs and you tell me we are NOT weaker than at the start of the transfer window.

City

Players Out/injured - Adebayor, Santa Cruz, Tevez, Ballotelli, Johnson
Players In - Dzeko

Liverpool

Players Out - Torres*
Players In - Andy Carrol*, Charlie Adam*, Luis Suarez*

Chelsea

Players Out - non
Players In - Torres*, David Luiz*,

Players marked with * transfer pending.

If they all go through, we are weaker and they are stronger. That is a fact.

That's my opinion and I have said it. People around us are getting stronger, we have got weaker with the loss of Adam Johnson. Really think we should have tried for Torres and go for Ashley Young in replace of AJ. Come in Mancini, get some players in!
whilst i'm a little disappointed we haven't added a couple to the squad including a badly needed wide player....i'm also not disappointed that we aren't spending £50 mill on an injury prone out of form striker in torres or £35 mill on a player that has played half a season of prem football either. the players we have let go have offered very little in terms of our current position in the league and the smaller squad we have now will have less moaners in it and our squad will get better and better the more they train and play together and should knuckle down now for the run in to what looks like being our most successful seasons in a long long time. look at the talent we have in our squad at the moment and you think we aren't capable of a top4 finish?....really?

We are capable of winning the league, the FA cup and the europa cup, but we wont win any in my opinion, because when it goes to it, we do not have a winning mentality, nor a deep enough squad of proven players in it.

Chelsea clearly will be stronger as any team who sign Torres would be.

Spurs are no stronger as they havent signed anyone

Liverpool are so far behind that it doesnt matter who they sign this season. I am not even sure they are stronger anyway even if they sign Adam. He is gifted but he aint no Gerrard. He gave the ball away twice in dangerous positions when they played us. Carroll is a talent and I think he will go on to be a big player for Liverpool. He isnt Torres though and the signing has been made to appease Liverpool fans who will think they have got the better deal. Problem is a fully fit and hungry Torres is the best striker in the premiership and that cant be replaced.

Long term we cant rule out a Liverpool revival. They are a huge global brand and if they can compete with transfer fees and wages going forward, players may well still choose them over us.

You are completely overplaying it. In terms of teams, only Chelsea around us have strengthened. Liverpool are too far behind so what they do is irrelevant as they won't finish in the top four. United haven't brought anyone in, but now have Rafael out injured. Ditto Arsenal. Spurs haven't brought anyone in, but have injuries mounting and their best defender now out for 3 games.

In terms of players:

Santa Cruz had zero starts for us this season - his departure means nothing.

Adebayor is quality, but likewise has had minimal impact on our season thus far. Just 2 starts. Losing him means little in the context of how we have got to third place, and what we have for the next 15 games.

Balo should be returning in a week and is expected to be available for United

Tevez is injured?

In terms of the squad that Mancini actually chooses from, we have had zero departures and one in. That is balanced out by AJ being injured. Net sum is the same number of players but an imbalance in shape after losing a genuine wide man.

fair play mate you're entitled to your opinion and that and as far as winning the league goes i'm inclined to agree with you but i don't see why us winning either the fa cup or europa league are beyond the realms of possibility.....and as your thread title states that you don't think we'll finish top4 then i have to disagree with that also. our squad is easily capable of securing a top4 place.....who have spurs signed that have you worried that they will catch and overtake us?

Plus rick seems to keep forgetting that Carroll is going to be out quite a while last I heard. Balotelli will probably be back around the same time.

Your timescale is one day!

You cannot just keep spending. The weakness is cover for AJ, but that's not long term and our inactivity on transfer deadline day is down to the business we have already done and the extremely healthy position we are in.

Let Chelsea and Spurs panic. For every person who rates Torres you'll find another who questions his fitness / attitude. Carroll is high risk. He could just be a one season wonder. Rather have Dzeko, and you have to choose. I'm grateful we can choose
