He’s ok as a footballer ...
But a **** Freddy Mercury impersonator.He’s ok as a footballer ...
But I don't see him as anywhere near the level of our better players & any kind of challenge to them.
That’s not exactly a bad thing when Fernandinho, Kev and David are three of the best players in their positions in football.
I think we are short at least one top quality centre mid, due to the age of David Silva & losing Yaya.
I strongly hoped that Gundogan would take that spot but imo he is too inconsistent & doesn't drive the team like all the other mids do.
If the idea is to keep improving then imo, Foden should be the 'squad' player, who is earmarked to gradually take over from Silva & any other midfield signings should be fighting for 1st choice status, which I'm certain was the idea when we signed Gundogan, rather than signing him as backup.
I would give him the 2nd half of this season to prove he is a genuine 1st choice challenger & if not, look to replace him.
Agree with you.
When we signed him I thought he would be the best midfielder in the league. He used to run games from deep, keeping possession and playing great attacking passes. He seemed to be all over the pitch. Whether injuries have been his demise I don't know but he hasn't been that player and De Bruyne fortunately has become the best in the league.
He seems to excel when a game is won or against lesser opposition. In any tough game though you wouldn't want him starting and that's why unless something changes we should look to replace him.
Apparently he was brought on late in last nights game.
I don’t rate Gundogan, but that post is beyond harsh! I don’t see how you can specifically pick out Gundogan for criticism from that match. For his season, sure. But specifically for last night? I don’t see it.Apparently he was brought on late in last nights game.
