I used to have the standard impression of Middlesbrough, when my only experiences were day trips to the football in the 80's.

Having spent a bit of time there recently, I'm quite fond of the place and the people now though.

There's some lovely little towns and villages on the outskirts as well.

Don't go to the game today, proceed straight to accident and emergency you must have had a bump to the head, Middlesbrough, Jebus

Yarm and Eaglescliffe are nice.

I quite like Norton also.

Even Middlesbrough town centre, whilst not exactly Knightsbridge, is 100 times nicer than it was 20 years ago.

Boro has got a bad rap in my opinion, as Jeff stelling will tell you. It's not a bad place to live, and aspects such as the town centre, uni and new building projects near the tees are all good imo.

Certainly worse places to live.

Reading this thread for the first time and I just had to bump the above; had me laughing out loud it did.

Be Glossop for me. A pal moved there a while back. I asked her what the neighbours on the street were l like; she said fine, but they thought it was really strange that she sometimes went to places like Manchester or Stockport to go shopping. Apparently none of them had ever been to either. Ever.
