Independent Regulator Petition

A list that is endorsed by Gary Neville and signed by Andy mitten, Stretfordenders and Stephen fucking Howson sounds honky dory to me.
It works like this by the way. We as a club get shit on for years then when we finally climb to the very top with the best owners in football the utd and various Scouse misfits decide its time for a change and push for something that could well cost City in the future under the guise its good for the game.
I’ll stick to being a bit concerned thanks.
So it's nothing in the actual wording in the petition itself that gives you cause for concern?

It's that various social media celebrities who support United are in favour of it, so that automatically makes it a bad thing?

Just read the actual petition itself and let me know how anything that's actually contained in it would leave City in a worse place than we are now.

The whole point of signing it is to limit the overbearing influence City's enemies have in the current governance of European football. I think you'd be hard pushed to invent a system less favourable to City than the current one.

And for those paranoid about Neville, he's waxed lyrical about City's owners and the investment in Manchester for years, and talked out about FFP and how it's bad for football.

I genuinely don't get it.

It's not a thread about Gary Neville. Happy to climb in and have a few pot shots about Gary Neville myself. Maybe we should start another thread?

It's a thread about the independent governance of football.

Something that would be of great benefit to City.

But because Gary Neville supports it, it's turned in to a thread about Gary Neville and how something he supports must automatically be bad for City. Bonkers.

The red's aren't under the bed anymore, lads. Move on.
No there in positions of authority and influence, remind me again who got to vet the pl chairman.

No there in positions of authority and influence, remind me again who got to vet the pl chairman.
Which is exactly why we need Independent Governance of football.

The current system is not fit for purpose.

No way should United and Liverpool have that much influence.

We need Independent Governance to stop that ever happening again.

It's precisely one of the reasons I've signed the petition.

Uber blue.
Prang.

Not sure you know how it works?

If 100k people sign it, it's considered for debate in parliament. By MP's.

It's not a proposal by Gary Neville and the lizards with a load of small print that benefits United and fucks City over.

It's a petition for MP's to debate in parliament whether football should have independent governance.

Not sure what the anti-vaxer tin foil hat crew think it is, but I'm guessing you've got the wrong end of the stick about how it works.
And Woodward met with Boris supposedly about esl,

Pretty sure it's Alex Rolfe's idea. That's according to the petition itself, of course.

Here are the actual words of the petition:

Petition

Introduce an Independent Regulator for Football in England by December 2021

The Government should use the recently established fan led review of football to introduce an Independent Football Regulator in England to put fans back at the heart of our national game. This should happen by December 2021.
More details
1. Like a referee, an independent regulator would safeguard our beautiful game impartially. This doesn’t currently exist.
2. An Independent Regulator could protect the game against another attempt at a super league or other efforts to put money ahead of fans.
3. Water companies, energy providers and the media all have an independent regulator. Football matters to millions and should also have a regulator of its own.

Genuinely don't see how any blue could read that and think it wouldn't be a positive for City.

Nothing to be scared of guys, it's ok.
That's it? That's the entire petition?

How does anyone, pro or con, know what this means, whether it's good or bad for City or anyone else? There are no details.

With all due respect -- and I mean that -- Yanks like me don't get this. It's vague. It's filled with meaningless platitudes.

I'm all for brevity, but I am not one who likes a lack of specifics when it comes to the subject of significant structural overhauls.

The entire future economic structure of the UK hung on 16 words in a referendum not long ago I vaguely recall.

16 words for a future.

Well, at least this one has 101.
