Individual Match Tickets

Forgive my ignorance but how will they do this if it's all electronic now? Does that not rule out Stubhub, Viagogo etc? I know there's 'ticket transfer' but thought that was only for season ticket holders and presumed people who used that would do so at or near face value.
To be honest I'm not 100% sure. But @GOULDYBOBS has described one such seller in the thread below. Also, if you read the reviews of sites like Livefootballtickets, reviewers describe how the sales work. Collect print outs etc.

Some just used what they had saved for a season ticket proper to buy as many individual tickets as they could, myself included. But with demand I doubt if that’s even possible this year, and to be honest, if we cross the £100 a game barrier, loyal and local without season tickets will just go less. We all love City, but we also have to live in the real world. We play the best football in the world, it's true, I've been blessed to see what I've seen at the Etihad in recent years, but it wasn't the best football in the world that made me a City fan in the first place, and if we're drifting away from that to become a theme park, it's reasonable to ask if City still loves you.
But at least there is an option to spread the cost of a Season Ticket, you don’t get that option on Thursday.

This is going to be a terrible season for ticket prices now we've won the treble. The club now know we'll get even more glory fans and they can exploit the price hikes big time. My five games a season could be well down to a few this season
In a similar situation mate. The price of success is now upon us for good or for bad

It's good that you can afford to do that mate, but also that you have the discipline to stick to it. Don't think that can be overlooked either. I imagine most season ticket holders pay direct debit and if that option wasn't available they'd probably give it up despite the huge savings on paying by a match by match basis.

I agree I think the three figures will meet heavy resistance from those who have been going years regardless of their financial position. It isn't a cup final we are talking about it's a run of the mill league game of which there are 38. Some of the FA Cup Final tickets were priced at less than £50. It's absolutely tragic we are talking about it hitting double that for a league game.
Tragic is the word Edgy. I know the club faces inflation like the rest of us but there's been zero recognition of the pressures fans are under and the sacrifices they make, when the gate is a fraction of the club's revenue. Apart from that, I just feel like it's really complacent. I'm old enough to remember when there was a Ratner's on every high street, Kendals was rammed every Saturday and Argos was the place to go at Christmas. It must have seemed like the good times would never end for the people behind them, but times can and do change for any business. For the club to start phasing out season tickets and then phasing out non-season ticket holding local fans through price hikes at the same time is a gamble, new territory for us. It's the side of the club we saw with the ESL plans and it's not pretty.

My Cityzen membership isn't due for renewal until August but when I select "buy tickets" it then says "join membership". When I click this it then tells me I'm already a member and not due for renewal until August.

So, do I need to renew now or come Thursday will it let me buy tickets under my current membership?

You should be fine Thursday BM, your membership is valid, that's usually just the holding page for when tickets aren't on sale yet. Yours should renew automatically anyway, it's kids you have to renew manually.

How did you find out when your membership expires, I can’t see it in my membership.

Cheers mate

When you are logged in to your account and select "join now" on matchday membership after selecting one of the home PL fixtures. On the next page it will tell you when your membership is due to expire.

Cityzens Matchday and Junior Members who joined before 21 May 2023 can purchase from Thu 20 July, 10am. All other Cityzens Matchday and Junior Members can purchase from Fri 21 July, 10am, subject to availability. One ticket per supporter.

For some reason the Chelsea game in February is available to buy.

Cheapest tickets are £73 at the ends, £75 on the sides, and then £90 in the posh seats.

Bargains!
Did you get a look at what kids' prices are by any chance?

What happens if I purchased a matchday membership last June 2022. Its now run out. If I purchase a new one, am I only eligible from Friday?

Did it not roll over? If not I'd email supporter services. You should keep the same membership number, maybe that makes a difference?

I used to think our interest free direct debits for the Seasoncards were a great gesture by the club but they’re largely giving with one hand and taking away with another these days.

If I sacrificed a night out or a new top then I could probably afford Chelsea or something. Will I? No. Walking away was difficult but I could see it coming.

Yeah I noticed that so bought two for Chelsea at £75 a pop, £140 with our membership discounts. Last year I bought two tickets for most games and even though it cost a packet, at least half of the games the seats weren’t even together. Well fuck that, if I can’t get seats together I won’t be going.

I think you're fucked.

Exact same happened to me a few years ago after I missed a sytems renewal change email or something - membership lapsed between end of season and ticket availability without me realising. I got a "computer says no" response from the club.
