- We went to Rotherham…
I am Extremely fearful that England are going to come home with 2 points at most from the group stage.
How was he going to get a shot off the ball was 6ft away from him.I must be a minority here, the way I saw it the defender stands on the attackers shooting foot, therefore stopping him getting a shot off, so for me it was a penalty
There in lies the problem for me,either the ref asks for a review or gets the word over what to review, seems to be the ideal way to influence a game to me. Never a penalty either Ref had made the correct decision which not one Italian player objected to then bingo penalty. It is the fault of VAR then, because the referee initially gave a corner, and so must have been told to review it.
Law 12: A direct free kick is awarded if a player commits any of the following offences against an opponent in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:
If an offence involves contact it is penalised by a direct free kick or penalty kick.
- charges
- jumps at
- kicks or attempts to kick
- pushes
- strikes or attempts to strike (including head-butt)
- tackles or challenges
- trips or attempts to trip
I’m not convinced that the challenge could have been described as careless, reckless or using excessive force, so I don’t see how a foul can be given, especially as football is a contact sport.
Any Injuries?

I agree
Ok then, if that happens on the half way line is it a foul? How many times do you see strikers going round a keeper and the angle is really tight keeper clips his leg and penalty given, and if sergio was in the box against the dippers in cl quarters and that happened and ref waved play on you would be calling the ref a bent cun*Whether you think it was a pen or not, the one thing the contact on the foot did not do was stop the Italian from shooting. He was going down at 45 degrees and the ball had ran away from him by 6 foot, by the time the contact was made. He was never getting a shot off, contact or not!
