IPTV

Excuse my lack of technical knowledge
But loads are people are saying get a vpn to avoid Virgin media blocking our live football matches especially on Saturday 3pm kickoff.
Who's the better vpn supplier for here in the UK and are they easy to set up ??
Thanks in advance guys. Totally blocked my supplier Saturday against Everton first game I've not seen for a decade.CTID
I have virgin and have no probs without a vpn.

My supplier (live t.v) started not working around the same time every evening.
The t.v series and films all worked fine.

I spoke to them and they said it was because the two things are on separate servers.
Tried everything that he suggested byt still not working.

Eventually he said that I will need a vpn. I told him that I wasn't paying for anything else and I would do without t.v for the summer.

Then I buckled because we still have at least 6 games left that I need to watch.
Signed up for a free week with a vpn service (surfshark) and it worked flawlessly on the firestick.

I have removed surfshark from the laptop and phone because it seemed to have slowed down the google search function.

Thanks for the information by coincidence my supplier is also live.t.v. so it's vpn next for me too. Other people have recommended surfshark so I will give them a go
Thanks again it's appreciated

We have 5 firesticks between us 4 different houses. The 4 that have Virgin went down only the one on EE carried on working. All 5 are with same supplier.
Friend has two erm "firesticks" on Virgin media broadband......no issues. (does have a VPN though)

VPN seems to fuck up access to Channel 5 etc streaming though.

Some if not all VPN's can have problems at some time with access to UK channels and websites, my VPN wont connect to Reddit when it is turned on.

Is that because using a vpn makes it look like you not in Britain ?
What country is best to set vpn too ?
Thanks for the info.
canada etc.

Yes UK channels don't like them dirty foreigners accessing our excellent Ch5 content and BBC , Ch4 etc. ;)

My IPTV is used with Virgin with no issues and I always forget to put the VPN on. We did have issues in the past but VIrgin media came out and switched us over to a 5ghz connection? Seemed to have done the trick. A more tech savvy guy on here could probably tell you the benefits of that

That’s your router WiFi settings.

2.4ghz = longer range but can be slower
5ghz = shorter range but faster

Modern routers offer both and devices automatically switch between them, or on some devices you can select which one is most appropriate, eg whether your device is next to the router or at the other side of the house.

I'm no expert but people need to be clear what a VPN is used for in various scenarios.

If you are in the UK and have a firestick that is being used to watch, say SKY sports without a subscription, then it is probably wise but not essential to use a VPN to stop the possibility of being snooped on. If you want to watch the likes of iplayer or ITVX through the official app then there is no need for a VPN.

If you are outside the UK and want to watch iplayer or ITVX or any other UK based broadcast, then a VPN set to location UK will be required as those services are not available outside the UK.

Mine was plaing up on sundae, constant buffering. I eventualee realised it was a wifi problem and i hadn't hardwired the iptv box. Shoved a lead in and turned wifi off on box and bingo, fast as fuck.
