Ireland - City til he dies?

To be fair to City it's only been the last few months that he's deserved a big contract. With his off-field problems last season the club weren't in a position where they felt he would definitely be here long term. Thankfully, and this is full credit to him, he has turned it around big time and now deserves to be amongst the highest paid players. I don't think anyone at the club is seriously stupid enough to let him go, especially Hughes as it would be managerial suicide....then again.

blue tell stephen to show some of the carefree dont give a shit high paid numptys around him how to play a game with pride passion and love for the club and fans from me will you, hope he does not get dragged away from us because he is one player i want to see lifting a cup for us when the time comes to show that english teams still have home grown players that become greats for the club that produced them>

Ive told him plenty of times from fans that he is appreciated more than ever this season. He does love it here, strange because I always thought that was just something footballers said to get fans on their side but its genuine and he will always have time for the fans, he's a genuine lad, feels gutted if we lose, is hard working, generous, fair and very funny although Ive got to say his music taste is crap but then again I'm an old rocker haha Said tonight he can't wait to be playing again after this suspension.

i do still belive that some players do actully love playing for the club they are at even though wages are sky high atm and i for one have noticed it in him this season and may it continue,do you know if there has been any talk of a new contract for stephen within the club at all?

I think there's been early talks so hopefully it will be sorted and put to bed, I don't think Stephen will be leaving City for quite a while yet.

Lad deserves to captain the side sometime this season with the amount of passion and commitment he's shown to the club this season. Led by example with his attitude and quality on and off the pitch. Hope he stays for the rest of his career now that he has sorted his life out and got settled.

I am and always have been a huge SI Fan.He as another poster has aluded to is a credit to City and has expressed his desire to stay and thusprove his loyalty to the club.Loyalty here is the key word and is indeed becoming a benign word in Football, loyalty however is a 2 sided coin and its about time City show some loyalty to Stevie and pay the man what he is worth. If reports are true regarding Parker and i heard wages being quoted of anything up to 100k per week.Ask your-selves,how must this make Stevie feel???Wanted, loved, cherished,i think not!!Further ask your selves who you would prefer in a City shirt??You know the big concern for me here is that despite his obvious desire to stay he is only human and unless City sort this shambolic situation he may walk.GET IT SORTED OUT QUICKLY!!!

Having read this thread I have admit that at the begining of the season I wouldnt have batted an eyelid if Stevie had moved to Sunderland.
Since then he has completely won me and thousands of City fans over and I am ashamed that I ever doubted him in the first place. He always had the talent he just seemed to lose his way a little perhaps some of the others should look at him and take a leaf out of his book. So glad you proved me wrong Stevie and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
