Aww don't be mean to Stevie, he's probably still mourning the loss of his grandmothers! Either that or he's still upset about reading mean comments on this website two years ago about wanting to drive him up to Sunderland because of how gash he is. But then Robinho made him look good and all was good because Stevie was 'good' and it had nothing to do with Robinho making him look the part. I'm sure a player with talent will enjoy the challenge of trying to get into the squad, unlike a player who is gash but is believing the hype of a six month stint they enjoyed. And let's be honest, Stevie knows all about how our youth act... after all, they'll be looking up to players like Ireland who came from our youth setup and copying them. What with the fish tanks, pink rims, 'daddy dick' Bebo pages, dressing like 50 Cent etc.

So lads, please lay off Stevie Ireland or he'll go awol again and say another member of his family has died and how he read mean comments on the internet and then got bullied and it all got too much for ickle Stevie the 50 Cent wannabe. After all, it's always everyone else's fault. He's a really talented footballer you know? It was the bullies fault he quit Ireland, si? It's nothing to do with him being an absolute nut who needs help.

Amen to that.

Frankly, I think everyone's missing the point.

He obviously does give a toss, it's just that being marginalised and treated appallingly by Mancini has left him pretty indifferent to the whole set-up.

And quite frankly, I can see his point of view. It matters not whether he's considered surplus to requirements, there's still a way of treating people. I'm gutted that he's gone, because at the moment this City side is acheingly dull to watch, but I'm more gutted at the way he's been treated.

What a load of bollocks! Just look at what he has said! How can you defend a player who has just openly admitted he didnt give a shit if we won or lost?
I've met some moronic football fans in my time but these Stevie Ireland worshipers take the biscuit!

PFF to say he didn't even feel anything for the club sitting on the bench after spending his whole career here says it all tbh.

Good riddance

Why people find that acceptable I just don't know.

I don't find it acceptable - I was furious with him for failing to track Scholes.

My point is this: he's a confidence player, a player that's endured nothing but instability at City, being played out of position and now pretty shoddy treatment from a manager that had no confidence in him from day one. It's patently obvious that he cared about the club, anyone that suggests otherwise is either a downright liar or being malicious. I think if any of us had been treated like that, we'd feel the same disillusionment.

Making these comments certainly highlights the guys lack of intelligence in more ways than one.

This is a real disappointment for me and I imagine many blues feel the same. I still hope he goes on to do well in his career and yet whether he has the right mentality to make it at the top is questionable.

Lol, love it. I've never been able to understand how certain City fans give all the plaudits to the wrong players, i.e Dunne instead of Distin and in this case Ireland instead of Robinho, though obviously Robinho had his flaws. Isn't it funny though how Ireland 'went quiet' when Robinho's form dipped. Quite like how 'Dunny's form dipped from 2007 onwards', because he didn't have a top defender alongside him saving his arse time and time again. Hmm....
