Irish Women’s Team singing pro IRA chant

Let's also not forget the people from their own communities that they've murdered down the years, and the so-called "Disappeared", 3 of whom have never been found. These people deserve a voice too.
Bang on mate, and as you say these people are typically conveniently forgotten by people while they make up their excuses for a bunch of callous murderers. Must have slipped the minds of the football team as well.

The IRA killed more catholics in the troubles than the army and RUC combined, with one of the victims infamously being killed for making a cup of tea for some soldiers. Presumably, for the apologists, the IRA murdering people from their own community also falls under the banner of freedom fighting. As long as that freedom doesn’t entail making cups of tea for people, of course.

I’m not looking to row my friend, 212 people injured by the IRA is nothing compared to hundred of thousands of raped, murdered and starved Irish people at the hands of the British crown. 2 wrongs don’t make a right and I’m obviously not trying to do that. While many have forgotten the 1992 bombing, even more seem to have forgotten the genocide and Colonialism violently forced on an island from intruders from Britain.

I’m going to stop viewing this thread now cos I can see where it’s going, let them sing let the ones they sing about get angry and let them sort it out themselves and we all live happily after.
It's all best left in the past where it belongs to those generations so that we can all move on in peace.

Bad things done on both sides. If we don't forgive and forget it carries on forever and ever . Amen.

My thoughts exactly mate. 2 sides to every story is the point I’m only trying to get across. The IRA and British army are no worse or better than each other if you look at their overall history’s.

Glad to see we’ve all been able to move on.
Isn't it great now that we're all friends :)

(Apart from that lad over there, him over there, that fucker with the rifle in the corner, that bastard with the drum, that lad pissing about with the Armalite...)

As someone from Northern Ireland who grew up during the troubles (born in 62) and spent my whole life affected by it. I have good friends who've been murdered, friends who did life for murder and attempted murder. I've had run ins, been bullied and be beaten up because of my religion when younger. Still unable to walk the shortest distance home from pub when home visiting due to walking through area of the opposite religion. I had issues/problems with paramilitaries of both sides including some members of family having days to get out of their house and the area. To me the saddest thing about this particular incident is these girls potentially grew up not aware of the troubles and their impact on families of all sides. It was also wrong (imo) what Kyle Lafferty and other sports stars have done recently. I personally have friends who's daughters play football and been cheering on both teams recently which was a real positive step but that seems to have been tarnished a little now imo

I never said you were mate - I was just correcting your mistake that there were no casualties in the 1996 Manchester bombing, plus it's a miracle that nobody was killed.

Absolutely no way am I condoning any of the murderous acts committed in the name of British colonialism in Ireland and elsewhere. There was loads of bad shit that went on but we're talking a different era to the modern-day Troubles (the late-60s onwards). A better comparison for you to make would be all the terrorist acts committed by the Loyalists during that time and of course Bloody Sunday. Although I would add that the latter hasn't been forgotten.
