After what can only be described as an humiliating night in champions league football for the club. The question I am now asking which I guessing is in back of a lot of peoples minds is this it for Macini? Is this as far as he can take us?

I think we all know why he was shown the door at Inter, and this competition has been his archilles heal? Personally I have been questioning where we go from here or a few weeks, and perhaps the coincidence that we have brought in an ex Barca honcho might be a clue for who we are looking at if the trigger is pulled.

But even if Mancini can bring us another premier league trophy this season is that gonna be enough, personally I don't think so. Right now barring a miracle of biblical proportions we are out of the champions league and that just is not good enough.

You utter twat, just knew the reptiles would be out tonight.1-0 on Sat will do me.

I worry about Mancini. I do. I question the length of the leash our owners have given him regarding champions league football. That being one of their highest priorities for both prestige and revenue. Not getting out of the group stages two years in a row, especially if we continue to get results like this for the rest of this season in Europe could be disastrous for him. I don't know that it will be, but it's certainly putting himself in a much more precarious position then otherwise.

I love the guy personally and have loved what he's done in the premier league, but I question the patience of our owners and the need for champions league revenue regarding FFP. Perhaps demanding Mancini's head as the original poster did (I believe he did anyway it was 13 pages ago) isn't the way to go about it, but the discussion is certainly valid and someone is not an idiot or a rag for bringing it up.

I agree fully and would note that while Mancini is surely safe through the end of the season, he will need to deliver another Prem, or failing that, maybe an FA trophy to return next season. He's generally an excellent tactical manager who has out-thought himself and should return back to what was a winning formula last season. However, results are what matter, and with Ferran Soriano as CEO and with The Pep floating around out there, Roberto needs to right the ship, and quickly.

Serious question. IF Swansea beat us at the weekend will Mancini get sacked?

I just hope we get back to winning ways asap and perhaps revert to playing 4-5-1 in europe with Yaya behind Tevez.

didnt real madrid thrashed us with the 4-5-1 and yaya behind tevez ?

Re: Is now the time to consider Mancini's tenure at the clubs

Unfortunately it is true, he sucks in Europe. He would get fired lot sooner at Inter if he would fail in group stages. He reached the quarter finals 2-3 times but no more.

Here quarter final would be a dream after all these performances.
Will he get better? Dont think so.

It's not like he has to beat Real, Bayern, Barca to be succesful.
He has to beat Ajax, Napoli, Dortmund, Villarreal so far.
We could only beat Villarreal last year but do you know they were so shit last year that they got relegated from La Liga? That says a lot about them.

We played 4 matches against Ajax, Napoli, Dortmund and all he could get is 2 points at home, and the Dortmund match was a big fail, only saved by a late handball penalty after a Joe Hart special show.

The question is will the owners remain patient if he keeps getting domestic succes but fails big time in Europe.

Dont forget the difference between CL group and knock-out stages is 8-10 m pounds. Even is you finish in the first round of the knock-out ties. If you go 1-2 rounds it is 10-15 m more income. + more home games, more ticket income etc., being a real factor in CL provides greater chances for better sponsor deals.

So will the owners be OK with domestic success=winning the league but nothing in the CL?

And will there be any domestic success? It is not like Mancini's years at Inter where he won the league 3 ties in a row but their biggest rival was AS Roma.
Not really the level of Chelsea's or United's.
(Juventus was in Serie B, like Napoli, Milan was concentrating on CL).

Re: Is now the time to consider Mancini's tenure at the clubs

When will people realise that Mancini learns from his mistakes? Less than 2 years ago a lot of preople wanted him sacked because we were too defensive against United and Brum at home, FF a few months and we were Cup Winners and in the CL.

Unfortunately not. There actually is some challenged people (fans?) who think that we should consider the future of a bloke who has always been in it for the long haul, after a dodgy result. They don't blame the 11 men on the pitch, just the one on the sidelines. A bloke who picked up the club as a mess from Hughes and turned us into Champions.

In case it was missed, the team we drew against beat Real Madrid tonight.

11 vs 11, football is unpredictable but we need to keep our eye on the big picture. I very much doubt our owners will be flapping like some of the posters in this thread.

We win never ever ever win the Champions League with Mancini. He hasn't a clue i Europe. In my opinion he has taken us as far as he can.
Mindless opinion i love it when so called City supporters want the manager out after a bad result
