In the bleak midwinter is not the time to consider Mancini's tenure. He's not going anywhere until the summer at the earliest, hopefully the double will make speculation merely an entertainment.

i can dispute all those points but the main glaring one for this season is the will of mancini to change things
in august and september he attempted to change the formatioon and tactics to a 3-5-2 and found the chelski-esk rebellion and toy throwing by the 'professional' staff embarrassing. he even publicly said that professionals should be able to play any formation and tactics
now, the players have their way, their formation and their tactics and what happens??
they waltz about on the pitch putting in 50% effort, some wander out of position and others just stand and point.
2nd : tinkering
mancini has to rotate the squad. Marwood et al. created contracts for the players that obligate the club to play them for cetain amount of starts and full games each season. Marwood allowed these clauses and kowtowed to the agents [which was necessary no doubt] but now mancini has to deal with it.
p.i.c : tevez -bayern "mancini said if it was upto him tevez wouldnt ever play again for city, if he picked the team." the team is picked by and large by contractual obligations and this will only change in a couple of seasons. Just because the tevez/aguero selection marries with most fans opinions doesnt mean it is a performance choice ;) its contractual. also yaya is never dropped, no matter what. he contract is awesome
3rd: signings
mancini has as much to do with the acquisition of players as toby the dog who lives at 200 maine road, mosside manchester does. He may submit a list of wanted but the getting is done by others. i.e marwood previously.
summer signings were awful and i am suprised bobby has been so quiet about them -- except that Marwood was shuffl ed away from the job ;)
all in all, we are playing no different to anything last season except the front fellas are not hitting the target with venom. we were awful december to april and dont forget how crap we were against QPR.

Sorry but to try and suggest Bob has no say in transfers is ridiculous.
Those that defend him claiming him to be one of the best in the business and such a strong character can not honestly believe for one minute that he would allow himself to be saddled with players he doesn't want?
Defend him by all means but please dont try and use that as an excuse for poor performances.

We can't have been that bad!
I can see positions getting cast in stone here! I think it pays to be flexible in your opinions, a few good wins tend to change things

I agree, that's why I believe it's easier to sit with the "what will be, will be" philosophy.
I can understand the position of the polar opposites though.

4 defeats and a draw from 8 games in Jan, 3 defeats and 2 draws from 8 games in March and up to Arsenal away constitutes a large portion of the season to me and demonstrates my point as far as im concerned mate.
Not entrenched in my position but worried that the same issues are still there and lessons are not being learnt.
He wins the league from this position and he is bullet proof as far as im concerned, despite me not being his biggest fan but like last year, the pressure is on again at a much earlier juncture and it waits to be seen as to whether Bob can sort it again.
Today will tell us all a hell of a lot imo.

As previously stated, what's the point in getting rid mid season? Who's going to want to come in January ? We've got rid of the poison chalice now and we don't want it back!

I agree, that's why I believe it's easier to sit with the "what will be, will be" philosophy.

What will be will be is fine unless:
1. The wheels fall off and we look like we're struggling for CL qualification.
2. A better manager becomes available.

fair enough he must have some sort of say but to infer that garcia, rodwell, sinclair were to fill bobbies champs league ambitions is stretching it.
the squad is worse than last season which doesnt help ;

pressure for places
setting tone for the season
bobby does need to get his finger out but with the attempted 3-5-2 change it is clear that the chelsea player technique will see off managers.
doesnt help with micah + clichy being out as the full backs bombing on are the key to scoring goals in the 4-2-3-1 formation with zonal marking.
zab can only do so much and kolorov can be, ahem, suspect, as in the glen johnson school of defending.
i think the main problem from the fans perspective is expectation and, as usual, beating the rags.
if chelski were 7pts clear and we were ahead of rags, none of this would be a big big issue [europe though .. hmmm, took fergie 12 seasons to sort it]
