Is our squad stronger or weaker than last year?

What do you think?

Only time will tell, new signing and expected new left back make it look slightly stronger atrack and defence wise.

Keeping Ake and Berny mean the 3 losses plus ferdy going are absorbed by the 3 signings + possilby curcurella.

But then any could not fit or perform as we expect, doubtfull but we will have fun either way.

I'm really not an advocate of the 'Haaland is untested in the Premier League' mantra as there's absolutely nothing to suggest he's not going to be a raging success for us, and I would add that his signing is as much of a guarantee as there is in world football.

Phillips is an upgrade on the Fern of the last 12 months.

We will sign a leftback, most likely Cucurella, but if not it will be somebody else who will be deemed to have the requisite quality to play in that position for us.

Alvarez, at a minimum, will be an able squad player to do a job, but could turn out to be fucking class, likewise Palmer.

Stronger all day long.

Alvarez in - Sterling out
Haaland in - Jesus out
Phillips in - Fernandinho out
Cucurella in - Zinchenko out ??
Ortega in - Steffan out

My only concern is the lack of dynamism up top. I just hope we don't become a little predictable.. luckily plan A is so strong I'm sure we'll be just fine :)

Also fortunately Grealish, Benardo and Foden are very rarely injured. I just hope they don't get burnt out.. but guess its the same for everyone

Stronger purely because of Haaland but if you dropped him into last season's squad then I'd go with that, purely because we've got two full backs.

Not really a fair comparison, considering there's a month left of the window. Once we're done and bring in Cucurella/ whoever then I think we'll be much better off.
