Only have to look at the players Chelsea have got out on loan to see the strength of their squad
The problem with Milner is that he always comes on and does a great job, and everyone says "why doesn't he start?" And then he's given a chance to start, and all too often, he's nowhere near as good. But I agree, we shouldn't get rid, if for no other reason than the fact that he's our only English outfield player good enough to not be a significant step down when he comes on.KippaxCitizen said:I would be disappointed to see James Milner go too. I know he was terrible last night but he's a key member of our squad, someone every good squad needs and he shows an attitude week-in-week-out that only Zaba is on a par with.

Yeah, the was some twat in the pub during the Liverpool game banging on about the strength of our squad and how we shouldn't be affected by all the games we had to play. We've actually played fewer players than them, Chelsea, Arsenal and the rags. Maybe that's the problem. Good teams can bring new players in and still play the same system. Our game seems far too reliant on having our key players fit, especially in the second half of the season. That suggests that the team might be relying too much on individual brilliance to create chances, rather than playing a system that creates chances no matter who's playing. The aim was always to have a system where anyone can come in and still play (nearly) as well.01cravend said:Only have to look at the players Chelsea have got out on loan to see the strength of their squad

Quoted from post above ..... there was a link from newsnow the other day to a report in which a City insider said both of those named players would be leaving this summer as management are fed up of them coasting
