For all Garry Cook's faults, he certainly knew how to close
deals. They were signing left,right, and centre when he was
our CEO.

For far to much money and remarkably stupid wages.

Hence the reason we couldn't get rid of the 'deadwood' easily.

I could've done what Cook did. He basically had a blank cheque and the freedom to spunk it.

can't say I am happy with a post with the word spunk in it following straight on from a post with Gail Platt in it

I know we're going off topic a bit with Cook,
but yes I agree that it was a lot easier to
sign players as we were basically starting from
scratch, and his hands weren't tied. Still very
efficient though.

1. He never had to worry about FFP.
2. He promised players absurd salaries.
