I'm just guessing because its Real Madrid and he might want to stay in Spain. You are right, it's just a guess and I do wish we sign him.

although it is R madrid, i wonder what the player's perception of city is... he may feel the city would be a more attractive club to join in many ways

Just because there is a release clause doesn't mean the player has to come, he's not a slave. It just means the parent club can't prevent him from negotiating a contract. Maybe he doesn't fancy England?

Very true but if we got that far and triggered the clause we would be pretty certain he was up for it or we would not bother in The first place.

I thought the Spanish economy and Real were up the creek financially. How are they hoping to fund any new signings? Unless they are looking to sell of course.
