Not if the fee is £15m, as some blues suggest it should be!
United would be able to pay him £200k a week at that fee.
They would be able to pay it to him as an individual even if transfer fee is 30 mil, they're still big earners unfortunately, but that would break their wage policy and upset other players who would demand better contracts etc, etc and Glazers would have less money to pay for their debt :).
I can't see them paying new player more than 120-130k/week no matter what transfer fee is. They're clearly only after players who are heavily underpaid in their clubs (so they could double their wages but still to not be huge ones - Kagawa, Jones, Young, Smalling are all examples of that).
I don't see them being any threat for RVP transfer tbh.
You are wide of the mark IMO....
United lost out on Hazard (a 21-year-old) because they could not match the personal terms, allied to a £30m plus transfer fee.
Same reason they pulled the plug early on Sneijder last summer.
United pay Rooney £250k a week, because they had to. When the fee is high, the wages become a big problem.
Invariably, when the fee is high, the player is already top class, earning very well, and United just can't compete.
They are currently asking Wio to take a huge drop on wages.
United could justify £200k a week to Van Persie ONLY if the fee was around £15m.
