I am goin to spring to the defence of Mancio on this one.

We may not have conceded many goals in the league because most teams didn't bother attacking us. They parked the bus and hoped to nick a goal. Most weren't good enough to do so and that's why we have a good defensive record in the premier league.

In europe however it was a different ball game. we were up against more clinical forwards and we also didn't dominate possession in midfield like we do in the league. Barry, Milner etc not quite so effective in this arena.

So as far as I am concerned get RVP if he wants to come and we offload a striker, but he is not the key. If Tevez and Edin want to stay we have a fearsome front 4 as it is.

To improve in europe we need a centre back who can play football. pique for example. Vince is great but he often hoofs it long and inacurately, while Joleon, well its just not his thing.

In midfield we do need someone a bit more cultured.

So if we signed Pique and Sneijder for example i think we'd be almost there as far as Europe is concerned.

Richards Kompany Pique Clichy
de Jong
Snejder Yaya Silva
Aguero Tevez

Sign Pique and Sneijder and we would be a laughing stock.

A defender who can't defend and a midfielder who can't get it up anymore.

Sneijder isn't fit enough to wipe Nasri's arse, and I am one of Nasri's harshest critics on here.

Considering FFP I think money could be a lot better spent than 25m on RVP. Sure, he would improve us on what we are now, but I'd rather try and develop Dzeko and Balotelli into the world class players we know they can be than spend 25m on RVP.

I think it would make financial sense for our future if we settled with the already superb options we have up top, and spent that 25m on somewhere we really could improve the squad...bale or Martinez.

It's not like we're settling with Corradi and co ffs, look at what we've got and at that value we don't really need RVP.

Also for those saying we need RVP for champions league experience, how are Dzeko and Balotelli supposed to get that experience sitting on the bench every game? Or do we sell Dzeko to Munich, then buy him back in 4 years time when Bayern develop him into a prolific scorer in Europe for 20 million more than we sell him for this year?

TH if RVP does come have you heard who will be leaving, press are linking Dzeko to Bayern is there any truth in that or will be Tevez to go?

Can't see Balotelli leaving while Mancini is in charge or unless he really does lose faith in him.

Pique and Sneijder!? are people on crack, or is the new football manager that realistic people are forgetting the difference between the game and reality. Not to mention neither player is what we require and would both break the bank.

I know what youre saying - and we don't seem in a rush to sign anyone that would compliment Edin (fast winger type) but Mario and Carlos as main men for a season leaves me a little nervous !

What about Aguero?
Tevez didn't do too bad as the main man for two seasons running.
Balotelli won't be the main man with Van Persie, Aguero and Tevez ahead of him.

I think this is an important point that can easily get lost in the "Who should we bring in?" debate. We had issues in the CL because our defense when presented with a parked bus. Hell, we had a problem with it against QPR. Fortunately our attack was strong enough in the PL to mitigate this.

My feeling is someone like Javi Martinez if we can get him would add that final layer of protection and distribution allowing us to transition better from defense to attack and vice versa. I'm still not 100% sold on Lescott but I would be foolish to not admit he improved a great deal last year.

Thank god Mancini is our manager because those guys have had their day. We are past those players now.

I dont any of them two could hack it in the prem..

No to Van, unless we sell 1or 2 of our strikers. Its essential for us to invest in other positions this is a priority and Im sure this will happen
