Just because he signed a new contract doesn't mean we were never in for him. Just because we don't sign every player someone says we're in negotiations with doesn't mean the guy who passed on the info was wrong. Why people can't grasp this simple notion is one of the genuine wonders of the Transfer Forum.

Yes, the clues pointed towards Bale.

But even if we were in for him, even if that was looking promising, even if the player had says yes and its then just down to teams.... NO ONE can for see every eventuality and guarantee a signing.

Anyone that thinks ITK knowledge of who we are looking at means a guaranteed signing it moron of monumental proportions.

If we'll send Savic and Boyata on loan and with Kolo Toure... we'll need another CB so what do you think about Czech centre-back Tomas Sivok? 28 years, did play for Udinese and Besiktas but is a free agent now and Sevilla, Fulham and Southampton are interested. Earned around 15k p/w in Turkey so he'd be super cheap and IMO very decent 3rd or 4th choice CB.

Even worst case scenario that we don't make a signing, we are still stronger than we were last season.

Tevez will be fully fit for a full season... Nasri will be fully integrated... the team will gell even more with the success of last season... Adebayor, RSC, Bridge, Weiss and Boyata return and give us cover for Carling Cup games... Manciniis under nowhere near the same pressure as he was previously...No ACON call-ups...

We are still the team to beat even without spending a penny!

You'd better have your fingers crossed that nothing happens to Kompany and/or Yaya. I'd also like to see some genuine pace added in the wide areas, because we can get a bit predictable at times.
