Some journo asked it straight, you signed a new deal, Marwood is sporting director, are you happy with your role and Marwoods' role in terms of transfer dealings?

Mancini: "no no I'm not happy."

I watch the video (its on youtube already), he had a hard time with these transfer questions started to speak worse English than he used too.:)

I think it's "eppy" not happy.

Agreed. Mancini's opinion of Marwood couldn't be clearer if he took out full page ads in the media stating 'Marwood is an idiot'

I have some sympathy for Marwood's position given he is no doubt acting within the brief he has been given but his competence within that brief is being questioned by Mancini

Don't you think that this type of public airing of the club's dirty laundry is completely unnecessary? If the gaffer doesn't like Marwood or doesn't rate him then he needs to take that up with the owners. If the owners, which they seem to have done, disagree with him, he should surely just get on with things.

Exactly....other teams can just use the division to push an even harder bargain.

Harder than what? I mean Agger's price seems to be on par with Ronaldo at this point if it's kept rising.

People here suggesting that getting rid of assets with high wages is an easy thing to do! Why should Wayne Bridge do anything other than look at his contract and expect that the club meet it - not his fault he's too crap to be picked by Bobby!

In all seriousness, we're showing an element of naivety in trying to understand how the footy transfer business works. I'm sure lots of fans feel frustrated; how must the 'Pool fans feel re Carrol?

What bothers me is the idea that transfer negotiations are hugely complex things requiring months of work. Whether you buy a house or a car or a plane or a footballer. The thing you're buying has a price to the seller. You pay that price and get what you want, or you don't. The paperwork may take a few days to do but that's about it. If we've not signed players, it's because we don't want to pay the money. I keep saying it but it seems the vast majority aren't listening. We signed Aguero not because of some amazing transfer negotiations. We signed him because we paid his release clause and gave him the contract his agent requested.

Its irrelevant what you or I think. As I said earlier Mancini will not sit there like Ancelotti did paying lip service to the idea that he is happy with the clubs transfer dealings. Mancini is no different to Mourinho or Benitez who throw there toys out of the pram or play politics in the media when it suits them.

Mancini will woman, moan and be a total pain in the arse until he gets what he wants or most of what he wants. Its one of the reasons why we are PL Champions. If the club doesn't like it then they shouldn't offer 5 year contracts.

Why do we have an ex-footballer in charge of business transactions? I have little idea of what goes on, but I wouldn't have thought it difficult to find a better man for the job.

I'm not too concerned, we're not a bad side. It would be nice to add a couple, but if people are taking the piss then we'll have to make a stand at some point, which will only benefit us in the long run. It might be the case that things go right up to end of the window and people start to panic.

Why not woman and moan behind the scenes, that's my question? If it is more effective to woman and moan in public then you must accept that our owners aren't as great and clever as we think they are - because if they were then whether he moaned publicly or privately their reaction would be the same.

I didn't say it wasn't hard. It is his job to do it though and he isn't, is he? If I go into work and I'm not up to the challenges of the job then everyone is just supposed to shrug and not care?

-- Fri Aug 10, 2012 9:04 am --

Precisely. Aguero wasn't some sort of artistic masterstroke by our transfer team.
