Why not run the risk of FFP for one more year - it's 100% guaranteed that RSC, Bridge, Michael Johnson, De Jong, and Kolo Toure will be gone this time next year. That is what, £400,000 a week off the wage bill come next summer? Adebayor will be the only problem this time next summer if he continues to dig his heels in.

I have some sympathy for Marwood's position given he is no doubt acting within the brief he has been given but his competence within that brief is being questioned by Mancini
Are you happy Mancini is unhappy?
He is in charge of the richest club about, champions, and on over £100'000 a week.

Wish I was unhappy like him.

Life's a woman....

Here's why i think the argument that we have got to get rid of the deadwood first doesn't work.

If we signed Cavani tomorrow, the idea is that the other clubs would know we are desperate to offload the others and take advantage of that.

BUT

That its exactly the problem we have now anyway, before we sign anyone. They know we cant move in the transfer market until we get rid of them, so Spurs can take the piss with Adebayor etc AND selling clubs (Napoli in this case) can wait until deadline day and charge what they want.

We have to accept its like that, we got ourselves into that position.

Moving early with the our targets coming IN would've give us more time to line up more clubs for the OUTs... The only way we could've got Spurs to move quicker is by saying he's going somewhere else in 2 weeks unless you act now.

Now we are a looking at the clock, and starting the season less prepared, so Mancini is pissed off.

Sounds fair to me.

Agreed, however I would have given it a month before changing tactics and not the entire transfer window which is what it looks like. I said at the start of the window that this summer was a big one in terms of getting rid of the deadwood and adding the icing on the cake for a real push at the CL.

What I can't understand is that apart from Ade and Santa we have others which in my opinion are not going to make it at city and should be moved on which would give us some wiggle room to make the squad better. What is happening with Savic, Boyata, MJ, Nimely and Kolo. Surely these would give us enough cash and wages saved to actually buy someone who would improve the squad not just make up the numbers

I have no doubt he does woman and moan behind the scenes. Bitching and moaning to the media helps him increase the pressure on the club and Marwood until something gives. Mourinho for example does the same.

You seem to have ignored my point. Would you not acknowledge that our owners aren't going to be too concerned with gaffer's public proclamations of dissatisfaction if he is indeed saying the same things privately. We're going round in ever decreasing circles here. I see no good reason for him to be publicly being so snide about Brian Marwood to the point where he said in the press conference he's not happy with the management set up at the club. Dare I say it, it is just a touch ungrateful with the amount of money which has been spent at the manager's behest since he came on board.

If the owners are more concerned with FFP and the financial state of the club then pushing on with strengthening the team then Mancini is likely to be disappointed.

However it is unlikely that the owners will want to totally stall on the team development at this stage so it becomes a question of what they value most and as the transfer window winds down the likelihood is that the desire to strengthen the team will become stronger especially as they are having no joy on the initial strategy of moving on unwanted players before signing new players.

It is therefore likely that as time goes on Mancini will increase the pressure publicly to get new players in. As tactics go its a bit of a no brainer.

Mancini isn't interested in letting the mistakes of the past cloud the future whereas the club is concerned about the mistakes of the past and rectifying them so they have differing perspectives and agenda.

That's a nice way of saying he doesn't give a shit about how much a player costs, or how much the players already at the club are costing, he just wants what he wants. It's pretty clear the owners have little intention of giving him what he wants this summer. Time will tell who was correct.

You are correct. Mancini doesn't give a shit.

Whilst I agree with you - the problem is in the timing. We want Ade out and say RVP in but we cannot move on RVP because if we did Ade would immediately demand £10m to move because he'd know we were desperate to move him out. At the moment we can play hardball and their is a real possibility the Ade will end up staying and sitting on his arse for a season unless he compromises. We have a difficult situation and need to move people on and we simply don't have the ability to sign major targets until some of the unwanted big earners are moved on. Doing as Mancini wants and bringing his targets in first just isn't practical in reality because you change the dynamics in terms of moving people out - and I think some of our deadwood will never be shifted.

Really? Thought you are only cup-tied if it´s the same competition
18.07 As a rule, a player may not play in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, but not UEFA Super Cup) for more than one club in the course of the same season. Exceptionally, however, a player who has been fielded in the first, second or third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League is entitled to play in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League for another club as from the group stage, provided that his former club did not qualify for the group stage of either the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Europa League;
if Liverpool get through he cannot play for us in the CL until February.

rules has been changed. that one you quoted are the old ones

On that basis we should look elsewhere - no point in paying top dollar for someone we cannot use in a key competition.

We'll have to agree to disagree mate. I don't see it as a 'tactic' more the gaffer venting his spleen in public and giving Marwood shit because he can't give the owners shit without losing his job.

You are correct. Mancini doesn't give a shit.

Not a particularly edifying trait if that is the case.
