Spanish and European Champions Barcelona are ready to hand striker David Villa to Manchester City if they can land Carlos Tevez and Serbian left-back Aleksander Kolarov in return.
In what has been a difficult season for David Villa, Barcelona are now prepared to allow the 29 year old to leave the club and may allow the World Cup winner to depart for pastures new as early as possible. They are still awaiting latest on his leg injury. Whilst it may suit Manchester City to complete a straight swap for Carlos Tevez they may be hesitant in allowing Kolarov to also depart as part of the deal and would most likely want some cash to be included.
Despite Tevez’s hefty price tag, Barcelona are aware that Roberto Mancini wishes to get rid of the Argentine as soon as possible and a move in the summer is highly likely. Although City would prefer to have Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria, Jose Mourinho’s side have slapped a “not for sale” sign on the player and that avenue appears to be closed for the time being – certainly in the summer.
Villa’s age does help Barcelona’s cause either and by offering a swap of a 29 year old for a 26 year old and a 27 year old may be proof that the Spanish side are beginning to lose their marbles.
With Boca Juniors and Santos seemingly out of the race for Tevez’s signature only Real Madrid and Barcelona are the two remaining sides that appear interested and have enough clout to be able to make an offer worth listening to. Although it would be unlikely that Manchester City agree to exchanging both players it would not be a bad bet to back David Villa being a Manchester City player in the summer.
