Who knows? We don’t, so we can only guess.
It may be connected and it may not.
It does seem a bit of a coincidence that they were announced almost simultaneously.
Maybe as a stunt to tell the fans to look over here whilst Gabby is being announced, but could be to box off the money too.
Fuck him off then
I personally thibk there is no link. Certainly not as an immediate one as the papers suggest. Any linking the two is for me just paper talk to bulk the chat up and fill time inbetween any movement on deals.
It might be about the next signing though.I'll go further to say, think Gabi would have been sold regardless of Phillips coming in, if he wanted to leave which he did and there was a decent offer which there was. Because he is in the last year. And Phillips would have come regardless, because Fernandinho left snd he was identified as the player to replace him. Hence my saying I doubt there is the link claimed, that one has to happen for the other to.
Think it's more to avoid being left with too many playes myself. Now Jesus has gone we have room for Cucerella. Until Sterling goes we don't have space for anyone else to replace him.It might be about the next signing though.
Now we can say we had to wait for Jesus to complete before signing Phillips.
If it had been the other way around, Brighton could say that we have just received £45m for Jesus, so they want more for Cucurella.
Just a thought process. It’s probably bollocks.
When in the last 14 years have we had to 'sell to buy'? what happened to the Kane money? When would we let a 100m+ players with a 3 year contract left leave for 40mE so he can earn less and win nothing?
All these and other questions answered in the Atheltic next week
Definitely another thing to add into the mix, for sure.Think it's more to avoid being left with too many playes myself. Now Jesus has gone we have room for Cucerella. Until Sterling goes we don't have space for anyone else to replace him.
If you spend 50m to 100m more than that you sell for annually ie every year, then its not self sufficient in the long run. Thats before you forget the hugh out lay on Haaland, 85m with Rioala & Alfies cut +wagesIts usually what clubs who dont generate enough revenue without transfers does. The clubs with the highest revenue in the world (like City) can usually afford to spend significantly more than what they sell for on transfers, unless their wage budget is out of control. City should be able to spend around 50-100m more on transfers than what we sell for annually. Doesnt mean we have to, but I'm pretty certain we could afford Phillips without selling Gabby.
Nothing more than eay clickbaitI'll go further to say, think Gabi would have been sold regardless of Phillips coming in, if he wanted to leave which he did and there was a decent offer which there was.
