It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

When Mahrez leaves then Palmer will 100% replace him (unless Pep plays him in a different position :) ), there's not an inkling of a doubt in my mind over that. The lad is brilliant, that's not hype, that's just fact. As far as I'm aware no one has referred to him as being world class BTW, although the potential is most definitely there.
I think some will be surprised at how good this lad is

At his age, Sane and Sterling were playing for us, and in meaningful roles. Lol, at Walcott? Aye ok, that's a pretty clueless remark.

I respect you more than to get equally pissy back at you, let's see how he does this season. His injury was unfortunate, but he with 3 months our, he still only managed 4 league appearances. only 1 stary in total, if I remember correctly. I did actually feel bad for him, that since his return in April Pep didn't get him on for even a minute when he had 3 substitutions to use, just so he could qualify for a PL medal.

Really hope he proves me wrong, and shows he can play a part this season. But the expectation on him to have a significant contribution are way over the top.
Some good points there. Hopefully, if he does struggle, we can always bring Neymar or one of the other subs off the bench to help out.

There was literally nothing pissy about my reply at all? I just laughed at the idea of using Walcott as a reference point to Palmer when their circumstances couldn't have been further from each other to compare. The age logic is flawed. One extreme example is we should have gone nowhere near Ferna cos he was only doing it in Ukraine at 28? Back to Walcott - him breaking out in the championship at Southampton and getting a move to Arsenal where he underwhelmed for years before ultimately fading into nowt is absolutely zero relevance to Palmer. Once again, Sane and Sterling broke out in sides who couldn't lay a finger on City. If Palmer had played a whole season at a lesser side we'd probably be trying to sign him too. It's incredibly unfair to say cos he's not broken into this team at 20 (when he was obviously on his way to get 20 apps in one season at 19) then he's not near or not doing enough. It ignores so much context.

There's a real chance that if Sane or Sterling came through our academy they might not have broken through either. Genuinely a thing cos we know how reluctant Pep is to be a finishing school for raw young players. Foden is one of the most gifted English footballers I've ever seen potentially and he had to wait for ages to finally break in
