We have to get another winger. We let Jesus & Sterling go, Palmer can't replace both of them ffs.
We have the smallest squad in PL as of now in a season where 5 subs will be allowed.
We are actually finished because we basically sold our depth for no reason.
Why would we end a Summer transfer window on a net positive after winning PL again?? Who are we trying to please, people who will never respect us anyways?

Earlier on in the window I had openly disagreed with this, albeit recognising some logic in it. Now, I have come round to thinking it is not just likely but might be a good thing.

All depends on how quickly Alvarez adjusts, how big a step Palmer can take, wnd whether Grealish settles in this season. Bit too many ifs, but an additional player would need to settle too, and there would be more chop and change for all involved.

For domestic cup games (early rounds at least) & CL dead rubbers I wouldn't be surprised to see Borges and/or Mebude get game time either.

Bernardo hasn't played on a wing in ages and Alvarez is a striker.
We need to get Felix/Leao, Cucurella & Sosa this Summer.

Bernardo is often deployed in the wider role,whether its his best is another discussion....and Alvarez is not a conventional 9.

We don't play 442,i'm sure you are aware of that.

All the ones that have left with the exception of Jesus, only played because of injuries at the crucial part of the season. We have replaced them with more quality options given that Fern had reached the end of his effectiveness as was.

If we get a left back then we are in a much stronger position than we were 12 months ago. I have always thought no wide players would be brought in attack as I think full backs will be providing the width next season. The added bonus is 12 months more experience around the first team for Palmer and McAtee

We have long gone past the stage where we purchased players to beef up the squad. Transfers are targeted and if we don't get ones we feel are right or at a value we can live with, then we will wait.

For me this is the highest quality squad we have ever had

Real had nacho, vallejo, ceballos, lucas and mariano in their squad last season. Having mcatee and palmer on the bench won't affect us much we have haaland, alvarez, Mahrez, foden, silva and grealish ahead of them.

Load of nonsense, I expect we will start the season of at least finish the window with the same size suad as last season which isn't the smallest in the league, and has the most quality.

For that to happen, we would need to sign 2 players. 3 if Zinchenko leaves.

We will either not sign a second FB and/or another attacking player, and we will go in with a smaller squad with a couple spaces for registered players, or we will sign a couple more and have the same sized squad. It can't both.

As it stands, we are on course to go in with 19 registered players, even once a new LB replaces Zinchenko.

Tell you what, If we do, I would hope we give the spaces to players like Kayky so they get enough to qualify as club trained for the future, rather than sending them out on loan which would prevent that.

Palmer takes Torres place. If we sign another winger, Palmer's path will be blocked. We don't need another winger, for Foden and Alvarez can play on both wings, Bernardo can play on the right side too, and we have also Grealish, Mahrez and Palmer.

Let's look beyond mere numbers and take into account the versatility of the available players. We have enough options on the wings, plus more exotic like Edozie (still here) and Kayky.

Alvarez is a complete unknown at this stage. Is yet to play a PL game and I don't recall him every starting on the wing at River.

This pre-season will give Pep a good idea of what he can do.

The ideal scenario is Alvarez and Palmer both step up, although it's a very long season. I'm sure we can invest in an additional winger if needed in January.

Silva needs to stay in the midfield.
