Some games at left back some at right back depending on the opposition all 3 full backs play about 40 games that’s about right.I agree.. but where does Cancelo play then? Too good to be a fringe player and pretty sure he won’t settle for that
Absolutely not a one off. Its against anyone who can give it back talent wise.Not good enough to be LB no defensive qualities, check out first 10 minutes yesterday.
And it's not a one off either.

Was reading through the comments of the Athletic’s City post and looks likely that Stones and Dias partnership will be revisited with Laporte injury.

According to comments in the athletic it looks likely De Bruyne is going to be our first choice attacking midfielder this season
All legit observations and yet with all that it took a bad break in the 80 something minute for us to lose the match.For me, yesterday they all looked scared to get involved. Almost as if the fear of injury and missing a World Cup is playing in their minds. I could and probably am way off but it does worry me that the WC is mid season and that’ll be in the minds of some! How it’ll effect our season till that point I don’t know? But if we continue to play like that again we will not be lifting a trophy this season.
My hope is we just needed to blow out some cobwebs and yesterday will hit home we need to be sharper. I also suspect Pep saying “the players gave their all and I told them I’m proud of them” was just media lip service rather than his actual belief.
We looked very lethargic at times yesterday, uninterested at others. It may just be a case the players didn’t take it seriously and had a friendly mindset (I know it is but it was Liverpool!) and next week we’ll look totally different but I have doubts.
My only saving Grace is Liverpool won’t play much better this season in games bar the odd one I’m sure, but we were not far off and had chances. We also have a fair few gears we could shift up to so I’m not too stressed just yet and far from flapping so early on. I’ve no doubt we’ll come good, no doubt Haaland will bang them in and no doubt we’ll challenge on all fronts if it was just a friendly mindset rather than an example of where we currently are.
I’m just concerned a World Cup not that far away will effect some in the squad.
We 100% need a LB though, I’m not convinced it would of changed yesterdays result but would of given more stability. They targeted that side for a reason, others will do the same I’m sure.
Because the game has no bearing on the standings I think a lot of things were handled loosely. The fact that we scored shortly thereafter doesn't change the fact that Matip went to ground unnecessarily and played the ball with his arm. it wasn't even looked at.
And the fact it took so long on an offside review on our goal when offside are normally the quickest VAR reviews tells me they were looking high and low for that one picture that would allow them to stick to the call of no goal made by the AR.
I know I'm going to be called parochial, but I actually understood Dias being so upset about the penalty call against him to the point he was carded. What was he supposed to do? He was running and turning at the same time with his arm in a natural running position. The space between him and Nunez was not enough for him to react in any way and yet he almost managed to pull his arm away. Nunez ball was also off target as the ball played the man and not vice versa. For me it was anti climactic, as City easily looked the better side after Alvarez goal. But whatever. There was no way on Earth they weren't going to take full advantage of an opportunity to aid the scouser cause.
BTW, I haven't seen any mention of Pep going to basically a 4-4-2 after KDB went off. We had Haaland and Alvarez in tight with Foden wide left and Bernardo wide right and Gundo and Rodri paired inside. It definitely caused Liverpool some problems. Something to look for as an option at times in the future.

Txiki and the club has made some great transfer business over the years, but the season starts in a week and the squad currently only have 2 senior fullbacks. No matter how you put it, thats not good enough. This should have been sorted weeks ago! If this is how long it takes to negotiate a deal they should have started sooner. Time to deliver, and hope this poor transfer planning doesnt punish us in the first few fixtures of the season. Could be the difference between winning the league or not.
