Not obvious, could be many reasons he is tempted by the chelsea move. He didn’t seem interested in leaving until the chelsea links.

I agree, if City pursues any of deLigt, Kounde, Gvardiol they would come in as 1 of 4 battling for time...if they go for a less expensive older player or even a young up and comer it could be deemed more as cover for the other three...but one would still want that player to fight for time...

They would also be expected to be able to play Peps football, its why Zinc plays at leftback as he gives Eddy an option to pass to

Well it's pretty obvious he doesn't fancy his chances at City otherwise he wouldn't want the move away. I guarantee in a couple seasons he won't be a starter for Chelsea either.

people really have GOT to tamper their expectations for 4th choice CB replacement or they are going to be extremely disappointed

Not sure I agree - buy the best CB we can - the 4 of them fight it out…. If players can’t hack the competition- they’ll have to ask to leave. In all probability Stones will miss quite a few games - and he’s not good playing twice a week - but Dias and Laporte had niggles last year - I’d buy someone young with tonnes of potential and let it play out. If it means for example that Laporte wants out at the end of the season because someone has come in and earned a lot of playing time… so be it.

You are presuming you know exactly how Nathan is thinking without knowing the full facts which we will never know.
How do you know with being in on the conversation that Pep hasn't spoken to Nathan
saying that Chelsea are interested in signing you, I'd love you to stay but your likely to only to play domestic cup games & the odd league game here & there unless we have a major injury scare.

Whatever you think we *need*, it's very clear that when Ake is replaced, it'll be with a cheaper player who's happy to take ake's minutes. Dias, stones and laporte had injuries last season, and still Ake didn't get that many minutes, certainly not minutes that someone like Kounde/Gvardiol would be happy with, and all I am saying is don't expect players of that ilk.

Ake a bit like Stones lost minutes because he was injured when we needed him very often.
