Every deadline day I crave the adrenaline rush of Robinho signing and every deadline day I go to bed disappointed. This year will be different because I think every year will be different. Let's go City! Slap £150m on the table for Antony and lets shake things up

£150 surely ?

Given our net spend is 50m or thereabouts, and apparently we had a 300m war chest due to winning so many trophies why have we been so parsimonious?
Because we have a business plan which is forward thinking and strategic. We don't just spend willy nilly but work to its strategic aims. That's not to say we should not be flexible when the opportunity or need arises (Cancelo going on loan to Bayern after falling out with Pep last season for example), but we have to trust in the management of the plan by those running the club unless we think they are doing a poor job.

So far, the owners have not let us down and totally delivered and I therefore trust their judgement and management of our resources whilst they continue to demonstrate their competence.

Is this a Clarkie
Not at all. I'm delighted with our transfer activity. We've brought in 4 very good players, got rid of a lot of deadwood freeing up more game time for Alvarez and Foden.
And on second thoughts we were in for Bellingham which would have been an earth shattering signing.
Suspect we are keeping our powder dry.

A smaller squad than last year even though there’s more matches. Make it make sense.
Smaller in numbers perhaps but bigger on physicality. The four main additions are all capable of playing 3,000 minutes, whereas it was debatable if Gundogan, Mahrez, and Laporte could ever do so again, and Cancelo’s face didn’t fit.

Is it?

We've essentially lost 3 players (Gundo, Mahrez, Laporte) and signed 4 (Kovacic, Doku, Gvardiol & Nunes).

Palmer didn't play alot last season and his minutes will be replaced by Bobb you'd imagine. McAtee wasn't part of the squad and Cancelo left in January. Everybody else that we've sold / loaned out are academy players.

The KDB injury is a blow and that makes the squad look smaller, but he'll be back in January and will be a huge boost in the run in.

Overall I think we've had a strong window. Pep will be happy with what he has.

have we finished our deals now or is there a surprise ending to this window I’m not being greedy but you never no.

Laporte hardly played either.

People love a moan. The squad is stronger. The players leaving will be a year older and who is to say they could do the same again this year?

The squad needs a refresh. Players get older and leave.

Hopefully we have bought well.
