Reading again I see I made a mistake, I meant “we AREN’T maintaining an advantage by inertia”.Welcome home gus
Can we comfortably surmise that should arsenal not of capitulated that we’d of realistically hit the 94pts trajectory and not of dropped the remaining 5?
I think we are so ingrained in expectation of the pts totals Pep consistently puts up, that it discounts the bar set; our mean average is 90pts a season and we haven’t avoided injuries year on year, we’ve adapted when faced with it….. the inertia most definitely brought home the other trophies but the league, it’s almost a perfect lock and is imprinted in our dna under Pep!
I think it has . Think we bothered what the public perception is that’s why we are not spending hardly anything in his window . Maybe I’m wrong and come end of window we have signed what we need but I think our transfer business is done for this summer. You reckon that’s impacted our window in terms of how we want to operate? I haven’t thought of it like that yet.
Perhaps Rodri will play further forward in one of the 8s?Neat and tidy though Kovacic is, he’s a defensive midfielder who scored the grand total of 4 goals in 142 PL games for Chelsea. I wouldn’t categorise him as equalling Gundogan in any way shape or form.
My concern is not so much that McAtee and Palmer will be asked to occasionally fill in or come off the bench, but that due to thin nature of our squad in those areas, they’ll be required to start and maybe regularly. The first XI midfield almost picks itself (Foden, Grealish, Bernie and Kev in behind Haaland), but there’s nothing in reserve. Injuries to 2 or more of those players and we’ll have a noticeable drop off IMO. Even were we to buy someone like Olise, who I don’t think has pulled up any particular trees at Palace, it would at least give us a layer of insurance
Is there a possibility that these teams that have strengthened may even take points off each other and not just from us, which I am assuming you are implying?Reading again I see I made a mistake, I meant “we AREN’T maintaining an advantage by inertia”.
I don’t know what we would have done in the final two games. Brighton wasn’t going to be easy. We lost to Brentford at home. And if we hadn’t rested players (including against Chelsea), how would we have done in the last two finals?
We have usually adapted but we also have struggled at times. Right now I see this season shaping up to be another 19/20, which coincidentally came after winning the domestic treble. Except this time the competition will be tougher.
lol. One way to put it I guess. Now I understand that some, including you, look at people like me and see: pessimistic, spoiled etc.
No one is winning every gameIs there a possibility that these teams that have strengthened may even take points off each other and not just from us, which I am assuming you are implying?
Would be a surprise. He’s the best in the world in his current position, the glue that holds everything togetherPerhaps Rodri will play further forward in one of the 8s?
Added that for you ;) I know the crowdlol. One way to put it I guess.
That’s how we end up in 19/20 again…Would be a surprise. He’s the best in the world in his current position, the glue that holds everything together
