Tolmie mentioned it I think in a tweet that was posted on here
Why would we spend close to £60m on Wharton when he has not really proved himself yet and we have Perrone who could be as good or even better?

Maybe if the club really believe in the potential of Bobb,Lewis, Mcatee, Perrone, others then the only way is for us not to fill up the squad with replacements for KDB or Kovacic, and if that's the case the fans need to stop obseessing with players like Wirtz and Musiala. If we drop off a little or win nothing this year so be it.

Well it wouldn’t because Khaldoun has often stated his ambition to get a few academy players in the team. I have no idea if those players are good enough non of us do. IF the club think they are though then we need to provide a path to that and keep buying established players everytime there's a space makes that harder.Maybe it’s time to bite the bullet, but tha’t up to Pep and Txikii to decide. That would be looked as failure by Khaldoon. The standards have been raised and those are the standards. Khaldoon is serial winner. His post interviews after the season show that
We were not going to. Tolmie said we were forced to move due to United interest. The club wanted to leave it another season, see how he does at Palace. Then if he continued to excel then we go for him

Look at it this way everyone want us to spend £80/100 mill replacing Gomes / Cancelo/ Phillips, how many combined minutes do they have in the last 2 years. Are we saying Lewis, Bobb, / Mcatee Perrone aren’t good enough to make up those minutes, and perform better? If we think that why hang onto them.
If KDB or Bernardo were leaving then maybe but they aren’t.
Not on about academy players. I meant winning nothing. Khaldoon is like Perez serial winner wants 5 in a row. Has stated that in an interview. Academy players as squad players is fine.
I doubt we'll be replacing either Cancelo or Phillips. Neither were part of the squad last year and so don't need replacing this year. The only purchases we'll make IMHO are if any established squad players leave.Ah, so it's not neglecting a position that has been needed since it was clear Phillips wasn't suitable, due to assumptions you are making that something could be lined up? Based on what?
Like I said, what other clubs are doing is irrelevant, I mentioned it as it's an oversight, alongside Villa's purchase of Onana, Califiori to Arsenal, United spending £90m on young players etc. It doesn't matter to City's plans and actions.
I don't honestly see what bargaining power you are imagining here for players that, as you have stated, we want to sell as they aren't part of Pep's plans? Cancelo was literally told to leave as he wouldn't play (effectively the same as not registering him) and went to Bayern in a day or two. They are both, effectively, unwanted assets and their future, regardless of sale or loan shouldn't be the deciding factor in getting a 6/8 in. They both have agents, who should, and will, be working on deals as they aren't part of City's plans. It's a choice, not a necessity.
