Bobb making a step up is the only logical reason letting Alvarez go without an attacking recruitment. For those saying McAtee isn’t proven that’s right but also Pep wouldn’t keep him around for the sake of. Clearly seen something in him.

That's fair, but we have said the same for McAtee two summers in a row. There are still 23 days to see if Pep keeps him around for the season. I hope he does btw.

But to argue he is better than Alvarez is just absurd. No issue with the rest.

Let’s not rewrite history though mate, of course it’s wrong to say he was dog shit, but he didn’t have a single great game playing in the midfield role and it was clearly Pep shoehorning him into the side at times. A manager is allowed to have his favourites, Pep has proved that many times over the years, and that’s his prerogative - he’s done it with Bernie too.

Julian is a top player, but he doesn't get into our best eleven. To sell him for such a sum is good business, as hard-nosed as it is. I feel confident going into the season with what we have, but more than confident, the opportunity for academy players to step up is more exciting to me than big buys. We have won everything. If that can continue with a parade of players who have come through the academy, it will be Pep's greatest achievement, IMO.

I'm excited to give these academy lads a go as well. I really hope Pep starts Mcatee and Bobb on Saturday and doesn't play all the big guns who only arrived back yesterday

Yep, I still think that if a team offered 25m for Mcatee, we'd let him go. I want him to be given a chance though
