It’s going to have to be direct replacements because you cannot go into a season with more games with less players than last season. Zero chance, regardless if he likes smaller squads or not.

I would imagine the lack of pictures is purely due to the fact our backroom staff haven’t been announced yet.

We presume it’s lillo and his assistant but as nothing is announced pictures will be a no no.

Like tolmie says tomorrow will be a huge point as to how far along any potential leavers are. I’m sure the boarding party usually gets announced?

I would expect Lillo announced tomorrow and movement on Walker and Mahrez at least.

I’d take a guess he’ll get some more time in middle but will be our wide primarily.

Al Ahli have already bid for Mahrez, Bayern have confirmed interest in Walker saying that he wanted to speak with Pep yesterday, Cancelo was out the door already, Bernardo has been banging on about leaving for 2 years and Laporte was told he could go this summer a few months ago.

How is Pep surprised that any of these players have told him they want to leave?

Not aimed at you, but your comment is the prompt. Do you not think everyone is going way too far into this 'surprised' comment, and spiralling over nothing, reading too much into it?

And if people want to jot down the gospel, at least get it fucking right. He said Pep was not impressed, not that he was surprised. The half the team remark wasn't literal either, you don't have to come up with 5.5 players to list, but if you insist on it, at least include Gundogan in the wild speculation.

Disagree with most of that, he had a hit and miss first season, as Did Rodri (and most other Pep signings) but came into his own when from them on and was regarded as one of the most creative players in the league - it certainly wasn’t a 3 month spell.

I agree he was suspect defensively which Pep alluded to when discussing his preference for CBs in the full back positions.

On the left of a front three (with someone like Ake/Gvardiol behind him) I think he’d excel as he’s a very creative player and incredibly talented. It’s all pretty mute though as it’s never going to happen with all that’s gone on behind closed doors.

Yep. Pep appears to like squad size as it was second half of last season, and it worked fairly well!
Anyone thinking we’ll have 3,4 players over the outgoings after the window has clearly not been watching.
