It's Quiet - a new dawn

Think Otamendi has been staying upright a bit more recently. But i must admit i think VVD is a cracking player.

Yeah, he is the perfect pep player. He also presses on the front foot like Kompany does as well. VVD and Kompany as a partnership would be absolutely monstrous.

But the woeful games are getting less and less frequent, and since Kompany returned he's been constantly superb. Personally I would never trade Otamendi for Van Dijk.
I don't think City fans always appreciate how good he is to be honest.

Take Kompany out of the team and put Stones or Kolarov alongside Otamendi and then lets see how he does. Its a regular pattern every time.

Teams like City that have aspirations of winning the champions league can't have flaky defenders with no leadership skills.

I can't imagine how completely out of touch you are if you actually think Otamendi is rated outside of City fans.

Do you never speak to people who aren't City fans? Do you never listen to any radio/tv shows or read any newspapers?

Even people who like Otamendi should be able to accept he's not seen of as a good signing or a great defender by the wider footballing public.
Still digging. How deep are you going to go?

Not sure if anything you've quoted is untrue? He's a bit of a laughing stock in the eyes of many and even though he's nowhere near as bad as some would have you believe he's also nowhere near as good as one or two on here like to think.
I wouldn't be unhappy to see him stay but if Madrid offered anything upwards of 30m I'd snap their hands off.

who are these "eyes of many" the general public etc etc. This whole debate started because he was called out for making up a strap line to support his narrative and then as you have, introduced the unnamed third party haters to try and strengthen it. I have no issue whatsoever if people dont rate the guy, but to make shit up is simply ridiculous.

He's nowhere near as good but you think the back to back winners of the CL and current Spanish Champions would buy him?
Just to clarify, he might well be good enough for Real Madrid but he's not good enough for City? I just don't follow this logic, at all.

And then whoscored.com think he is the best centre back in Europe.

Who gives a shit what the media and other fans think watch every home game he is pretty decent

The conversation was about if other clubs would be willing to pay big money for him and if he was worth the same as Van Dijk.

I said no, one primary reason being his reputation since coming here has gone downhill quickly. No longer the La liga TOTY highly praised CB chased by several clubs, he's now regarded as an awful signing and a very average player prone to dropping in a howler. Whether that's true isn't actually relevant as we all know public opinion and hype isn't always fair.

The clown I replied to has refused to accept that his reputation in this country is not good, despite it being obvious to anyone who watches or listens to any football media.

So he's started this little argument because...well actually who knows why.

Similar to how Bravo was good enough for Barca but not good enough for us, I presume.

It's not as simple as that. Otamendi was an absolutely fucking amazing centre back for Valencia and he had Messi in his pocket. I've seriously never seen a defender dominate him like that but Otamendi did. For whatever reason, he's been nowhere near that good for us.
