It's Quiet - a new dawn

When you say that the £23m clause kicks in next year is that at the end of the season? Would £17m additional be enough. Consensus says we are paying £50m for the same deal for Sanchez. Higher premium on sanchez obviously but 3 times as much?

Some buyout clauses have a window where they can be activated in June.

Our Rulli buyback for example is valid between 1-30 June, so we can't just rock up to Sociedad on 31st of January or August and say "here's your cash, we'll just be taking your goalkeeper thanks".

Wolfsburg had a similar time window with Ricardo Rodriguez's buyout clause.

I would assume Alderweireld's would be similar if the clause is genuine, no way Spurs would let him go in January or late next summer.

Next summer is when that figure kicks in from what I understand.

We want our arses kicking. We had an option to move when he was on loan at Southampton.

Playing Devils..he is someone who has regular brain farts and does get caught in possession a few times.

Solid type and willing to do the dirty things, all the same.

Hart is a real worry.

Nobody is biting yet.

Goalkeepers just aren't seen as a priority for most clubs these days, outside of the elite, and they certainly aren't interested.

I had £10 on Hart joining Palace at 25/1 at the start of the Summer expecting Big Sam to bid. He then pissed off and my bets now looking less likelier than before...
Hopefully De Boer is a big Joe fan and will step up and make me rich :-)

What's the difference between the buy back option and guarantee? They sound the same to me if the guarantee doesn't mean we have to take him back??

Not unless De Boer has suddenly decided to stop believing in the Ajax and Barca school of playing out from the back!

Hart's agent will certainly be earning his coin this summer.

If I were Joe, I'd go to Girona. Live the life, live playing in La Liga, live being kept busy by the likes of Messi, and make sure his England place is still there next year.

Girona can afford £15m ;)

Newcastle could be a destination for Joe, my Geordie mate reckons a bit of talk up there of Rafa looking for a keeper and Hart might be a better option than Reina. Just fan talk ?

Txiki still likes Alderweireld.

Ongoing contract talks at Spurs but as of next season, there is a £23m buy out clause which kicks in.

Spurs really pushing the player to sign a new deal now and do away with that clause.

He's asking for Kane money, though.

Spurs know they could get £40m this summer but are still confident he will extend.

Otherwise...
Dream signing

I hope there's a back-up plan, because that is not happening

You are as optimistic as the Paranoid Android who shares your name!

IMO Walker might be the first domino that eventually sees Spurs fall back down to earth, not that I particularly dislike them or want it to happen.

They have potentially sleepwalked into a crisis with their wage bill, paying their players less than 50% what their competitors do, and asking for loyalty that's not actually been repaid with trophies yet.

If they want to keep this team together they're going to need to find another ~£40m/year for wages, and when building an £800m (and increasing) stadium, that's going to be near impossible.

Danny Rose said on the radio a few weeks ago that they needed a marquee signing to make another step up, but there's been no sign of one, not even a hint. The most ambitious signing on the cards seems to be Barkley if Everton let him go.

The players will be looking at clubs like us, and Chelsea, spending heavily to improve from strong bases, and think, "If I go there, I might have a better chance at a trophy, but if not at least I'll definitely get paid properly."
