The biggest transfer in the history of football and this magnitude must be calculated one. The seismic energy will cause loads of damages .
My popcorn is loaded .

Err wait. Messi said:
"The whole family began crying, my children did not want to leave Barcelona, nor did they want to change schools."

Isn't that the opposite of what you say?
Or what would you mean by "family"?
As TH has said.. the family had a meltdown when he said he wanted to leave BUT he is still adamant he wants to go i.e.they have accepted the fact

He did say that. But then said he wanted to leave.

At no point did he say he wants to stay. And certainly at no point did he say he wanted to stay because his family wanted to.

The only reason he gave for staying is that Bartemeu won’t let him leave.

I know the club's stance is that the Messi deal won't impact other deals.

However it does look like things have slowed as there are 15, or so, days to go until the start of the new season and we still have glaring weaknesses to fix.

But he made the decision to leave DESPITE that and he still wants to leave DESPITE all of that.

Month left of the transfer window however.

Let's see what happens when Messi gets back into training and playing.

He is desperate to leave. Although he has said he will give his all, I don't buy it. How can you when you don't want to be where you are and your boss has renaged on a promise.

Anger, disappointment and complete demotivation will absolutely get in the way of him giving his all.

It ain't over.

That's.....disappointing. My original feeling on this deal was a bit meh, 33 year old, 1 club player, best in the world but fading or due to fade in the next year or two, will he have the drive/heart to start again in a new country, new club. Assuming he does, what does that do to the balance a team made up of front foot runners who get in the face of the opposition the moment they lose the ball.

Then this morphed into "but it's Messi" even if it is only for a year or two, we adapt to play to his strengths, just maybe it's worth a go, and had he shown the courage to go toe to toe with Bart, then maybe I'd still want him, but he didn't, he did what he's done before. I understand his loyalty, I do, but it's exactly that that makes me swing (ooer) back to my original instincts on this.

I'd rather we'd gone in for Werner (though according to the media we did?) or one of the promising young strikers, and if we are in the market for a front player, then I'd still rather we did that.

I did enjoy the circus, but I have no real inclination to repeat it.

All part of the negotiations. Who thought this would be easy? Messi has tried to get out by using a clause in his contract.

It is time city push back at Barca and support the groundwork messi has laid. Game on!

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Would rather all signings be at the club before the start ideally.

Im not too bothered about Messi and want a top class DM/CM instead.

The Kaka saga showed the club was much better off not going for the stellar signings and bringing in players the squad actually needed, imo of course.

OK. Just to get it right,
his wife fully supports his wish to leave,
surely his father and brother too
while his son Thiago, being old enough, understandably didn't want to leave but DESPITE that heartbreaking moment Messi is still wishing to leave.

Messi was convinced we could do it for free and played his cards as strongly as he could, but my contacts have stated this morning that even the video yesterday was part of a plan B strategy.

I expect another power play before this window closes and if Barto is still there, a final negotiation in January involving Garcia.

Messi was actually very smart yesterday, he ticked a lot of boxes - love for Barca, love for his family, wanting to love the remainder of his playing days - even box checking the terrible toll COVID has had on the world.

His entire narrative was an appeal for empathy, wanting to draw people to his struggle.
I'm willing to buy whatever dreams you're selling, but surely, surely, Barca would never sell Messi in January?

Slightly off topic but wolves look like there going to sign fabio silva from Porto.... He's going to be an interesting 1 to watch looks like a star in the making

Not that we'd behave like that but imagine if we'd decided not let DS leave this summer, instead asking Real Sociedad 40m for his services.
Despite Silva's love of City and its fans I think he'd have taken us to court. Cojones.
