Interesting to know who for £40m would be far better than Ake?

Oh come on,we paid about 15/20m more than his ability suggests.We'd have been better keeping Tosin.

Aké made total sense to me. We (thought we) needed a left-sided central defender, and we thought Stones would be on his way so a homegrown player was very desirable for that squad position. The fact he can cover left back probably helped him a lot too

The thing is Tottenham value Kane 150/200 millions and he worth that much for them but not for us.I don't think we will pay that much.

Alternatively,id be realistic enough to understand i'm 4th choice and entering my peak years,and for a few extra quid do i want to be getting splinters when i can be a main man elsewhere.

Yep - I just think he has enough self belief to stick around for at least another season before giving up on what must have ben a dream move for him

Panic in the sense we could have found far better for 40m had we had the luxury of more time.I get the situation was uncertain,but i just found Ake an odd choice.

We tried to get Ake the season before. We had plenty of time to change our mind. He was a longer term target, just like Dias was, not a knee jerk panic buy. Different level players for different roles. If Dias hadn't had the season like the last one, we'd be hearing the same panic buy 4th choice clains for him too.
