I think we were worried about Laporte’s knee going again after a long injury absence and so wanted a left sided insurance policy. And also nobody foresaw Stonesy’s renaissance. I think Ake is our most expendable player now for various reasons

Until Laportes knee re occurs or Stones forgets how to play football again.
Or Laporte leaves as many on here think he might.

Panic in the sense we could have found far better for 40m had we had the luxury of more time.I get the situation was uncertain,but i just found Ake an odd choice.

Maybe, he is still a good player but sadly his start with City has been hampered by injuries and the excellent CB he is unfortunately competing with. Spurs would be a good move.

I understand why we would think Ake is a good choice, but why would he take the step down when he's only just got here and hasn't had a chance to prove his worth due to injury? If it was me, Spurs would need to pay me more than I'm on now at City to take the step down

Alternatively,id be realistic enough to understand i'm 4th choice and entering my peak years,and for a few extra quid do i want to be getting splinters when i can be a main man elsewhere.

Similar level to Ben White imo and Brighton rejected £40m for him.

Decent piece of business by Milan for a young player who is a regular starter, especially considering that Chelsea didn’t need to sell

Haha both are indeed possible, that’s true. Though Laporte’s injury was caused by an impact rather than any underlying issue. As for John, who knows. Hopefully a more settled home life will finally keep his head from exploding again
