I did have that thought too. But I suppose the argument could be made that Delap and Håland are pretty similar stylistically, so why bother signing Håland? Because he's proven he can do it, would probably be the answer to that

Its a completely different argument becasuse Delap is miles off world class while Doyle isnt light years away from making a decent Prem midfielder.

I'm not a fan of blocking off academy progress for the sake of mediocracy.

Are JWP’s stats impressive out of interest? He’s never stood out much to me bar a few nice free kicks.

I was fairly sceptical too but statistically at least he has a lot going for him. Very respectable passing stats, doesn’t lose the ball often (dispossessed less often than Bernardo), makes more tackles per game than any of our players except Cancelo and Rodri

Plus he hasn’t missed a game in years. Played every single minute of the last two full seasons

Is he good enough for City? I’m genuinely on the fence on that. But I imagine he’s a manager’s dream player given his attitude, consistency and availability

Very interesting thanks mate. At the end of the day I’ll trust the club and Pep they’ve rarely got it wrong in the transfer market particularly when it come to midfielders.

I don't think you'll find a City fan anywhere whose preference would be for us to buy someone who can do what Doyle could potentially do. Whether Doyle can make the step up is the question that the men in charge have to make I suppose

i hate the fact that when we come to selling players the figures are so underwhelming. Chelsea, liverpool etc sell their players for decent money. We, more often than not, end up incurring considerable losses and sell them for far less than they are worth.
I don't think we are that bad.....besides we arent a selling club, which has to be factored. The income keeps rolling in from the academy too.

I don’t think Pep particular rates him tbf. Without the family background I don’t think he’d have been given the (admittedly few) chances he has been given.
Clearly he doesnt,as there have been several opportunities to get him on the pitch that have been overlooked.

A loan with an option to buy,and then a buy back clause would be best all round.

Just read rumour of us being interested in Kingsley Coman at Bayern (bild)

Not seen any bundesliga games this last season or bayern in the CL - is he still a decent winger ?
