I respectfully disagree with this assessment. I think the fact spurs have somehow landed an elite manager in conte has changed things significantly. No one could have predicted conte leaving inter Milan so when Kane did his interview most assumeed it would be an underwhelming hire made by levy.

Knowing how competitive conte is there is no way he has taken this job unless the reported stories of spurs refusing to sell Kane are true. Why would conte be happy to walk away from a title winner to go to spurs who also won’t invest unless they sell their only world class player? It just doesn’t make sense. If levy tells conte he won’t sell then he does conte will walk before season starts. Again it doesn’t make sense.

Spurs have also taken out a new long term loan with favourable interest to pay off their shirt term loan with a bit extra left over. Their financial situation isn’t as desperate as made out on here. They also are still yet to sell stadium naming rights so that is another large chunk of income to come in. My gut says Kane stays for a year and then takes a decision after seeing what conte can do, he has said himself he has 7 years left at the top of his game so why the rush for him now spurs have a legitimate world class manager?

That’s a well put argument, and you may be absolutely correct, but it’s also possible that Conte is joining Spurs with full knowledge that Kane will be leaving and that he also knows that he’ll have say £75M or thereabouts to spend on a replacement / replacements.

Maybe he’s not that big on Kane, maybe he feels that Kane’s prolific scoring / assists doesn’t fully compensate for the team tactics revolving around Harry, maybe he thinks that he could bring in a couple of favoured players, introduce new tactics, and get more out the team as a whole?

As I said, your argument is well described and worthy of respect, it may well prove to be a dead centre bullseye, but I think that Conte joining is not absolute proof that Kane’s staying.

If Kane comes out in an interview and says how much he’s looking forward to working under Conte then that, I think, will prove your point . . but I’m not convinced he’ll do that.

If conte comes in, there’s a chance kane does decide to stay imo, he clearly very emotionally attached to Spurs or he wouldn’t still be there at almost 28 years old despite having won nothing. Levy will play hard ball and tbh I don’t know if kane is the type of personality that will try to push through a move, we have more than one target and I can’t see us being held to ransom by spurs.

I can't see anyone being able to penetrate when they're up against 10 defenders, Messi aside and perhaps Phil next season.

You should watch more of Grealish, Pete. You might be surprised.

He‘s lethal around the box, doesn’t get enough of it playing for Villa but it’s his favourite place to be.
He’s very quick off the mark. He does this little drop of the shoulder and steps between 2 or 3 players that are so close together that you wouldn’t think it possible.
And on the edge of the box they’re in a right quandary because if they fail they foul.

I’m not sure if there are stats on penetrating the box / stepping into the box with ball at feet, but if there are such things then I recon Grealish would be right up there with the best in a side like ours where he’ll spend much of his time in his favourite space (and his safest space), the one where a foul is a penalty.

I think we spend a little too much time cycling the ball left and right, pulling at the shape of defence, trying to create space and opportunity. I think a player like Grealish would give us a different edge, make us a better team.

If Spurs said a year ago that Kane could go after one more season and have now gone back on it I would absolutely expect Kane to put in a transfer request.

A new manager doesn’t mean that next season they aren’t going to play in the UEFA Conference which is an embarrassment to Kane and Son.

I’d be surprised. If his reasons is being at his peak and wanting to challenge for honours then he wouldn’t take the risk in a rebuild. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good appointment but Spurs are well off competing for a league etc. It’s a bit of a now or never moment for him.

I agree he'll bottle it. I think he's already demonstrated that he doesn't have the stones for the type of negotiation it'll be with his comment that "in the end it will be up to me". The sheer naivety of thinking that in the first place indicates he's not a very clever man. Sorry to be insulting but I can't think of another way to put it.

From Levy's perspective he simply can't be seen as the man who sold Kane, at least not at a price that I expect City will be willing to pay. It would be the end of his career.
