42m for Torres? nonsense in todays market. we are crazy to accept that. almost as dubious as potentially accept 50m for Bernardo, on the reasoning that he is unhappy and wants to leave.

FDJ will not be a backup and sit on the bench. we already have Foden and Jack already to eventually replace Gundo and Kev and also a couple of academy lads. Unless we are immediately losing on of our midfielders FDJ will not come here.

no one in city said 50mil for Bernardo, that was definitely the buyer side briefing the press

I can see Torres and Sterling going to them and De Jong plus some cash coming our way… just not sure how much
 
If we even entertain selling him for that amount then it's down to the Barca boys in charge wanting to help their old club. We are not a fucking charity. Ferran is 21 and the next big Spanish player. He has 12 goals in 22 games for Spain. You don't sell a countries next big prospect for £40 fucking million. If they don't have a pot to piss in then tell them to fuck off and stop sniffing around our players until they have the funds.
 
I can only assume we'd facilitate the Torres deal if we have a striker lined up.

Torres is a good player but he's no chance of being a world class number 9 without Pep's coaching.

As with any player, if they want out for whatever reason, then let them go, pointless having half hearted players on the books.

But make sure we get a decent price for them.

but value also depends on how much he is worth to us. He is about 40 mil for us to replace a backup. for example Kane id definitely worth closer to 150 mil for spuds. its like chelsea selling morata or tammy for 40 mil who were their backup. so 40-50 mil for torres is about the correct market value.
 
Well Barca only have FDJ that would get anywhere close to our current team? Thy would never sell pedri and the wages that de jong is on would be used for Torres and save them money? It’s an area we don’t need strengthening though?

Why do you think that means anything?

We bought him at an absolutely drop dead price because Valencia were broke and he had 10 months left on his contract.

Are we broke? Does he have 10 months left on his contract?

No. So what we paid means fuck all.

He's the future of Spains attack. He's one of their best players already and their main goalscorer at 21. He's got 4 years left on his contract.

Valencia were demanding more than £40m when he was a 18 year old.
