I know it isn't new but I am saying it could escalate with more international stars wanting to play for other countries. I know Messi and Becks cant play for other clubs but I Meant the future Messi or the future Beckham wanting to play for another club.

The option has always been there for people who are eligable to play for other nations and it hasnt escalated so why would it suddenly begin to do so now?

International football means nothing. I want to see Wayne Rooney get snapped in half and Manchester United to never win another football match, but if he sticks on an England shirt and underperforms for the 400th match in a row, I have to stand there with a red cross painted on my face chanting his name..........not going to happen

No one forces you to do that. I go to alot of England matches but i will never cheer or chant the name of a Utd player almost had a fight with a cockney red for calling Rooney some choice names before the match once.

Do you celebrate when he scores though?

-- Tue Dec 20, 2011 4:31 pm --

International football has no meaning. Nearly ever football fan looks forward to a Saturday feast of football rather than a pointless International break. Managers hate it, players hate it and fans hate it.

Thats not true Top 6 clubs in the Prem hate it which includes spoilt fans like us now. Its still massive in every other country. People still love it. Its still very relevant in terms of being considered one of the best players ever. See Ronaldo and how being highest WC goalscorer ever is seen as his biggest achievment

Obviously WC is ranked the greatest tournament and the place to make your name but an International break seems very unnecessary because of its timing and most club fans just hope their players don't come back injured. I enjoy the WC because I don't get as stressed as I would watching (Imagine) a champions league final where City are playing Barca and also I get too see the best players playing at the highest level.

Okay we could take friendlies away but you would still need breaks to qualify for the WC. The players wouldnt want to do all the qualifying over the summer as they would never get a holiday. I know they dont exactly have a hard life at the top level but im sure like everyone they like to get away with there families

Everywhere apart from us has a winter break and that is exactly what it says on the tin, a break!!!!

Well he was 17 when he came to England and probably feels at home here. Germany do this too with players born elsewhere like Podolski and Cacau. Razak being English will also be good for us if he stays here - no African Cup of Nations duty, etc.
