Jack Grealish

We finished 12 points off with Grealish out for more than a third of the season. We were on course around Christmas before he got injured. This is exactly what the club will be selling to Grealish - if we don't make it by 2023 then I'm sure he will go. It's sad that so many of you seem to have forgotten what it's like to have a proper connection with one of your players.
You make a good point but spoil it with a very silly comment at the end.

Lost proper connection with players at the the club?

Well currently with have Foden and I would say KDB and over the last ten years we've had

Kompany
Hart
David Silva
Aguero
Zabaleta
Yaya Toure

All absolutely legends who are loved by fans so that point is moot.

I see Villa as I see Everton. Wealthy owners but nowhere near top 4 despite the investment in players made. If you get in the top 7 that'll be classed as a good year for you and if Grealish is happy with that then so be it. However if he wants to compete for titles and the top competitions like The Champions League on a regular basis then he'll need to join a top 4 club

At the moment we're the only one interested and if he shows any ambition he will join us

The only way i can see us buying Grealish and Kane is if we sell one or possibly two out of Sterling, Mahrez or Bernado? But Who would be in a position to buy those players, Certainly Sterling whos worth must be £100m and where would he want to go, very limited choices with many clubs struggling financially. Chelsea possibly but i wouldnt want us to sell to potentially our closest rival.

Surely Kane replaces Sergio and only if Bernardo is leaving grealish comes in? I could also see though Kane in and Jesus leaves? Torres can play central or if Kane is injured or rested than false 9 again?

I just cant see City spending £150m net. What do you think we would get for Jesus and Bernado. I do think Pep will keep Jesus.

I'm 68 years old, been a City fan and general footie fan since age 10, I've played the game and coached my 2 sons teams, for you to tell me I know very little about the game is to me an insult.

However....

Once again, what are these obvious reasons we can't repeat last season ?
I apologise and didn't mean to cause insult but your question came over as being super naive when this very topic has been discussed many times on here and even touched on by Pep

Retaining a league title is notoriously difficult as the league games combined with the additional cup games and useless international breaks makes each season a very hard mental and physical slog and "getting up for it" repeatedly is a major hurdle.

Players come to win trophies and maintaining motivation has proven to be difficult, and it is natural for a fall off in performance.

New, hungry players have something to strive for and, in the case of Grealish and Kane, a PL title and their motivation will help others raise their game.

We won at a canter last season, not because we were brilliant all season, but because those expected to push us hard, had mares. Do you think they will have similar mares this season?

Finally, if you stop, whilst your competition presses on, you are inviting trouble, hence why we are looking to strengthen.

Peace!

City are the best in this league, he has played us several times, so he has had the oportunity. I dont recall him dominating us. or liverpool when they won the league, In fact, when he plays us he looks distinctly average, as he just cant get in the game. Not what you would expect for a player you are being quoted £100m for imo.
Two seasons ago at the Etihad he was brilliant.

Jesus is a good squad player, I would like for us to keep him as well
I know what you mean, thats why i didnt include him in my fist post of players to sell. That said when i watch him i cant help but think at times that some of our up and coming players could do as well if given a chance in that roll. He certainly isnt an Aguero replacement or star striker.
