Jack Grealish

Well that's enough VillaTalk for the day. Apparently this goes beyond a football transfer and it's about the "ethics and values of modern football." What a strange bunch.
I wonder if they said the same when the Rags paid huge sums for Rooney and Ferdinand? Or when the Rags paid what they have for Sancho? Or the way Liverpool chased van Dick - a lot of ethics one play there.

Havertz was low 70s. Man Utd got cold feet over paying £70 million for Grealish last summer. Chelsea have never approached a £100m fee, nor have Arsenal or Liverpool.

united payed 90m for pogba. I think your naive to think those 2 clubs won’t pay
over 100m for a player going forward.

you sound like a lot of villa fans - in complete denial that grealish might want to leave. If he wants to win trophies and compete at the top right now he’d move to city. Can’t see that happening anytime soon at villa

It's simple logic though isn't it. Why would Villa include a release clause of anything under £100 million in a five year deal. The release clause has to be equal to the base price for the selling club or else Villa are agreeing to throw away £20 million or more. Our owners may not be as rich as yours but they aren't stupid.

Anything over 60m a release clause, at a time when he had only a year on his contract, is brilliant for Villa and they'd have jumped at it to get him to sign.

Note, not that I'm convinced there is one. Just that uf there was, doubt it woild be anything over the 75-80m noted. No way Graelish would have signed to a deal that prices him out of a move if he actually wanted a release clause.

Hahaha what a bunch of deluded, entitled, self righteous loons. Madder than a fistful of shit
Have Villa never signed a player the selling club would rather have retained?
Was it immoral and unethical of Villa to sign Buendia when he was the favourite of the Norwich fans?

The Reddit ITK seems to have got a lot right here’s someone’s reply to the thread

“Nah, the only one he's really got wrong was Alves, and that's hard to blame him for since the contract was ready to be signed and everything. Other than that he's mentioned our interest in players like Jorginho, Sanchez, Pogba, Mbappe, Fabinho and Dembele, but he never said anything beyond us being interested, and even mentioned when we dropped our interest in some of them. With Jorginho and Sanchez it was widely reported that those transfers fell through right at the finish line, and there's little doubt we were genuinely interested in Pogba and Mbappe as well.

Compare that to the list of players he got right, which include Sagna, Mangala, Sterling, De Bruyne, Delph, Otamendi, Stones, Sané, Mahrez and Dias. With some of these he was way ahead of the pack, Otamendi was a real headscratcher since everyone thought he was going to United at the time. He also got some smaller things right, like Lampard's controversial extension, and the Everton game being called off because of COVID cases in the squad.”
I decided to something I haven't done in a few months and go on the soccer reddit to see what they wider public were saying about this. Big mistake.

Once you get past the fact that everybody hates us, you're still left with the fact that nobody believes this guy outside of City fans.

Redcafe and RAWK are kinder to City than that website is.

He is to Villa. If he isn't worth the same to Man City as he is to us then he stays. Very simple. That's how the transfer market works I think.

Unless he wants to leave and the club need to find a compromise.

Do you really think he is worth 100m to Villa?

Eh? The previous contract signed in 2018 ran until 2023. There was no reason or need for the club to give him a new deal last summer other than increasing his wages - why would they have added a clause that would almost certainly mean he was worth less on the new deal than the old one? Glad you're not running a football club!

exactly Dave and Kev used get the shit kicked out of them every week and we were all up in arms . Anyone who calls Grealish a cheat doesn’t know football, a cheat dives like salah not get the shit kicked out of him. Grealish is opposite of a cheat , he’s brave on the ball.
He plays for fouls...he drags his leg so the oppostion make contact...he goes down at the slightest touch from behind...the likes of Sergio, David Silva etc used to try and stay on their feet.

Grealish earns the most free kicks cause that is part of his game......some call it cheating, others dont mind it and see it as part of the modern game....Personally I dont want that type of play in our team.

I dont doubt he is brave on the ball (but thats different to what is being talked about). He is brave on the ball by making positive runs forward, dribbling in tight spaces etc but he goes down at the slightest touch

Personally I believe we already have better in the team...my hope is Pep and the other players will make him a better playerand he will cut the diving out if we get him

Because last year, Grealish wasnt worth anywhere near 70m. Not with a year left on his contract, not as a player.

I get what you are trying to do, and I don't disagree. You are trying too hard though and the exaggeration is crapping all over your own arguement, which isn't crap itself
